As long as the General appointed has the relevant qualifications and experience, there should be no bar to such an appointment.

Doctors are protesting in KP & Punjab, instead of talking with them, they dissolved PMDC through an Ordinace like MTI not through the Legislative Assembly.
PMDC needed reforms, private medical colleges needed legislation and control but not like this through a sudden whip.

p.s - i feel like we blame doctors and police very easy without listening to their side of story. We declare them wrong in an instance.
for example most common accusation is Doctors dont work/perform full duty in Government Hospitals as our respected health misnister is heard saying quite often. Believe me this is true for Professors but for HOs, MOs, PGs, SRs no they are often doing >24hrs straight and regularly get bashed by Patients/Attendants over unavailability of Medicine or Beds etc

which professor is doing 24 hours duty? everything is handled by poor registrar who throws every thing to the TMO who throws it to HO..result patient dies and noone cares
i will like to see that hospital
professors usually do 1 opd per week(if there are 5 wards for medicine) to which they dont come in time and mosly never come
and 1-2 day per week round in wards from which they are perpetually missing

Why only doctors should be on contract basis?

Absolutely right why only doctors should be appointed on "contract basis" in government service but unlimited employment contracts given to judges, army officials, police officials, district administrators and taxation officers etc. This is absolutely disgusting and the elitist mindset of the people running this current regime.

Medicines is not something to take lightly! I think the big blow came when false information about Pakistani qualified doctors due to nepotism (ego and terrible mafia led PMDC) led to the demise of a number of doctors from Saudi!

I can agree with that and look forward to the great progress that will be made by the new setup under PMIK's leadership.

Hopefully it would be better and transparent coz that PMDC has done enough damage!

Doctors are the major stakeholders in pmdc and they were not taken into confidence and the ordinance was approved by president.

Doctors across pakistan are on strikes because they are privatizing the whole health system I including the civil servant status of doctors.

Burki the cousin of PMIK is set on destroying the health sector of pakistan further.

Pakistan is a lower middle class country and PTI govt is sort of privatizing the hospital so that they can generate revenue as the major chunk of the patient of the govt hospitals are poor and the current treatment offered is on subsidized rates so it will affect the poor the most.

Also, according to KPK govt denied that they are converting the service structure to a contract based one. Even if they do that, it will be better. The doctors will then have to prove that are worthy enough for their contract to be extended. Forcing them to step up their game.
