PM Nawaz, army chief head to Saudi, Iran to mend rift

.
Arre bhai! Generals are meant to plan and strategize for the next war in their war rooms, not get involved in brokering peace between two nations!!! That's best left to a democratically elected government.

But then, it is a well known fact that Pakistan's external affairs and foreign policy is run by the Army! :big_boss:

Dude security is important. You tell me why General Patrius, Mike Mullen and many U.S Army official meeet with Afghan,Iraqi Presidents, Saudi Royal Family, and Ambassadors of dozens of foreign countries ? Does that make Obama weak now ?

What i fear is as per new World Order the western powers has already decided to shift powers from Arab countries to Persia, and this is happening on ground, Afghanistan Iraq Syria and in near future Yemen all are under Irani influence , and saudis are losing grounds, now its only upto Pakistan and Turkey they oppose this new world order or bend in-front of western powers.

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid confirmed on Saturday that the premier would depart Monday for Riyadh, together with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, where they will meet with King Salman..

Both the Sharifs have done very well for Pakistan and they've worked closely together and very well. Firs time, such a result focused civil-military relationships have been formed. And the beauty of the civilian rule with the ability to take everyone with them, are showing serious progress markers for Pakistan already, and more, in the next few years to come. Good work

I think this is more than mediating ties between Iranians and Saudis. Iran will be out of sanctions any moment now and this is a great opportunity for Pakistan to boost economic ties, open defence relations and symbolically become the first non-sanctioned country to reach Iran. If Nawaz Sharif is visioning exactly this way it would be hell of a move.

-With the sanctions gone, this is the most geopolitically important project for the region:
-Germany certainly can build the tunnel under the hormuz (40km). Karachi to Dubai freight train < 24 hour journey.
-Huge middle east market for agri/food products
-CPEC extends to middle east

Connecting the Middle East with the Far East and also Europe is a realistic vision, the chairman and CEO of Germany's national railway group Deutsche Bahn AG said on Monday, as the Arab Gulf states are working to launch their own railway network.

"We are also confident that there is political support for a railway connection through the Strait of Hormuz which can link the Arab peninsula with Central Asia," Grube Rüdiger Grube told the annual Dubai International Project Management Forum 2015, which kicked off on Monday.

Grube hailed the Gulf Arab states' railway plans as the most ambitious and largest railway projects in the world.

The ongoing 2,177-km-long rail network will link all six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the first time to provide an alternative to air or sea travel. It is expected to be fully operational in 2018.

The German group is ready to work on the vision to link the Middle East with the Far East through rail tracks which can add value to China's Belt and Road Initiative, he said.

"The UAE railway network, which is under construction, is an essential basis of such plans and to connect the UAE with its neighbors Saudi Arabia and Oman," he said.

The United Arab Emirates is building a 1,200-km-long railway network in the Gulf state.

The two-day Dubai International Project Management Forum 2015 is held as part of the "UAE week of innovation."

Very very good move. Pakistan can play a role. Even if not successful, we can feel proud Pakistan and its leadership sincerely tried to improve relations between brotherly countries.

How is the army chief involved in international relations and diplomacy? Isn't that the job of a democratically elected government?

No wonder Pakistan's foreign policy is in a shambles.
Our only elected person is Raheel Sharif.

.
With both sides having such extreme views of each other, don't know what pakistan can do but good move nonetheless if we can lower the tensions a bit.

Our only elected person is Raheel Sharif.

By 550,000 soldiers? While the majority of the 200 MILLION population has the other Sharif as their elected leader and the world also recognizes him. Time to wake up. Still havn't learned from Gen. Sharif's visit to the US have we? :enjoy:

If the Generals were that powerful at this time in the Pakistani history, trust me, it would be like Zia all over again. RS would be going everywhere by himself, even if every trip was a failed one. But he's pro democracy and a system so he doesn't listen to people like you, who don't want their own country to grow and want it to remain a dark hole forever.

It will be good if we invite both countries leaders to Pakistan and add Iran Iraq Syria too in Islamic Coalition to make it potent...!

What Islamic Coalition are you talking about man? Iraq and Syria are facing wars inside and around them right now.

What you need is to cool down Iran and Saudi and offer them options to peacefully solve their differences.

If Muslim countries can make an NATO type alliance...and by Muslim countries I mean ALL of Muslim countries, it will be good for us and world too.. Plus obviously they will take part only once all the issues between them resolved...!
