Its time to move forward, we cannot let border disputes remain a bone of contention forever.
The two fastest growing economies in the world much work together and concentrate on trade and commerce. Both nations have lot to gain from this synergy.

Laying the foundation of a stronger BRICS union with bigger confidence and trust.

Good step.

Once we resolve the issue with mutually acceptable terms, even Brazil and South Africa will become confident of taking concrete steps to boost BRICS as a union.

I hope this step is also taken between China and Vietnam peacefully.

Indonesia, Vietnam, Peru and Nigeria have strong potential to become full members of the BRICS.

Very true indeed. If founding members show sincerity, BRICS has a potential to replace G-7 in not very distant future considering the economic doldrums European Union finds itself in right now.
Also BRICS (and future additions to it) will give a much larger population base, better representation in world economics, which sadly current groups donot.
I also agree that economic co-operation is likely to bring peace to world more than military high handedness.

I just hope there is no repeat of stand-off with the Chinese army.
Actions like that create war hysteria and paranoia in peoples mind.

It is difficult to say whether there is an internal power struggle between CCP and PLA or something. For all we know, the CCP might be moving to have a good relations but PLA is not letting them.

President Xi is fully controlling PLA now, don't worry.

We shouldn't waste our time offering up excuses for the Chinese. If they have internal differences, that is their issue. What matters to us is what happens on the ground.

That is precisely the worry. It meant that while he was on a state visit to India to meet a China friendly PM, he was also asking his troops to create a border confrontation while telling his hosts differently. Trust then becomes a serious issue.

Chumar was a completely different place from DBO. The Chinese messed up big time, maybe they didn't anticipate a face off or were trying to test what the Indian response would be on territory favourable to the IA. In the event IA's build up meant that the Chinese had to withdraw, their positions were weak & unsustainable. A very strong demonstration of the new Indian government's intent was given.
