PM Modi meets top CEOs in US: $50 billion investment by 5 companies expected

A mere car factory? R&D hub in fact.

These two :
It is recruiting engineers for such functions as design, styling, software and vehicle engineering as well as test and validation.
"The goal of Tesla's team in China is to design, develop and produce new vehicle models and products with Chinese cultural elements in China and sell them globally," said Tesla in the recruitment post.
1. What does the underlined mean ?

2. About the under-recruitment engineers I don't think these people will do anything more than Tesla's designers and engineers in the West. There are Western technological companies' branches in India which also claim to be R&D centers but I don't think a single innovation has emerged from these branches. Likewise for this Chinese R&D center. :)

Tesla is revolution. It has reshaped automobile trends around the world.

I agree with you that Tesla opened the door so please do read my post# 57 about NDB and EVs and the section before it about my thoughts about vehicles.

Too much political and social hindrances in India. political stability is the first thing investors look for in the first place and not just pump billions of dollars in one go. B'deshis much more politically stable than India and Pakistan

The present administration in India seems to be committed to generate manufacturing jobs through FDI. Even if this magazine is linked to RSS, I don't see it making a big impact on the current policy trajectory.

Well, add that to Intel's, Robert Bosch's, Honeywell's etc. There will be no outstanding innovation from these "R&D" centers in India or indeed in China for use by humanity.

That dream died in India in 1987.
Can't believe this: Indians had Fairchild basically popping on their doorsteps back in sixties, and they TURNED THEM AWAY. The transistor manufacturing could've been an Indian thing...

Thank God for putting Indira Gandhi on the India's throne. These people really wouldn't be able to tell potato chips apart from microchips
