What's new

PM Khan condemned EU officials for lacking the guts to ask India to condemn Russia.

Ukraine is a primary defense supplier to Pakistan, odd that they didn't vote in their favour at UN
Pakistan took cue from India - your use Russia as your primary defence supplier [is that a rusty Russian wreck you guys have painted over as INS VIKRANT?] and odd that you did NOT vote in their favour.

does it matter? Pakistan did not fight the USSR for the US, it fought for its own self interest.
I think by 80s Pakistan was shrewd enough to know the reality of "US guarantees" .. esp. when we got sanctioned for defending against Indian aggression of 1965 with US weapons. Or waiting for a US fleet in 1971.. Despite being part of SEATO CENTO and later coalitions US always ended up sanctioning us for ulterior motives.

both India and Pakistan was sanctioned in 1965. The US threatened India with nukes in 1971, this stopped all Indian aggression in the west - you're welcome.

Can be worded better , although he is right. However it will be forgotten about India is a strategic partner at every level to Russia. Focus will be on them.
Not to mention, Russia proliferates ICBM and SSN/SSBN Nuclear reactor technology to India.

They crossed international border and walked deep inside our territory but we were also sanctioned??
Regarding the nuclear threat .it was of an implicit nature , Nothing was directly said or told. Moving the fleet into Bay of Bengal had several reasons including security of US officials stuck there.. Many today believe it was late on purpose...It failed to change the course of war that was happening in Bangladesh.. . .We managed to save our western border because of our men who fought back .India could have rightly taken away AJK (Pakistani kashmir) without being entitled to give it back under Genova conventions.... Im amazed you would attribute the movement of a sub as savior of the then West Pakistan when clearly the fleet was there to stop any possible Russian involvement.

Thanks

We hope the same in regards to Modi Ji

Unlike in Pakistan in India we need to get 274+ seats first to claim on PM seat and for 2024, NM is the front runner as there is no pan Indian leader to counter his popularity.

But it will be interesting to see what BJP/NDA will do after 2026 as NM will cross 75 years of age and as per recent rule followed by BJP of not issuing tickets to the candidates who have attained age of 75 years, with few exceptions of Yeddi & Metro Man.

The big elephant of the room will be who will succeed NM after 2026, whether NM will continue as PM till 2029 or he retire. After 2026 if he retires then question will be who will lead BJP till 2029 and who will be the face of BJP for 2029 election. There are many candidates available in 2026 like Amit Shah (62 years) or Yogi (54 years) or Nitin Gadkari (69 years) or Piyush Goyal (62 years) or Ashwini Vaishnaw (56 years).

I think since Rajanath will be rule out Gadkari will lead BJP for 2026-2029 tenure as he is most competent and accepted by RSS and his credentials as acceptable to all will be helpful to lead and Shah or Yogi might be the face of 2029 general election.

I don't know what Pakistan will get by going against Western countries considering economic exposure compared to Russia. If the voting was against Chinese government, then Pakistan's stand can be understandable but Russian case, bit strange.

for me China abstain is more odd than India's as we always voted keeping mind of our national interest and we are pleased to see that Russia acknowledges it.

Do you have any good link on this?

It was the first time the US - USSR Nuclear hotline was used. Nixon called Brezhnev on the hotline to issue the threat.
Henry Kissinger details the conversation between Nixon and Brezhnev in his book "The White House Years".
