PM inducts K-8W training plane in BAF; PT6, Yak-130, AW139 and Mi171 aircrafts will join soon

The Prime Minister said very shortly the Air Force will get most modern Mi-171 helicopter, PT-6 aircraft, LET-410 aircraft, AW-139 helicopter and YAK-130 aircraft.

Hmm that's new. A short range transport aircraft(but enough to cover the length of our country)

Looks like the modern versions are STOL capable. My guess is that it will mostly be used for either maritime patrol or commando raid or parachuting practice

why PT-6 aren't there any better option

Its a primary trainer. Don't have to spend so much on them. PT6 is a cheap plane that allows new cadets to test the skies and get a feel of flying, even if it crashes, the monetary loss will not be high.

Not with Hasina in power. We are going to have more and more trainer jets rather than actual ones (fighter jets).

Trainer jets are all BD is going to get in the foreseeable future.
