PM Imran 'optimistic' govt may not need IMF bailout

Is it because it needs $20 billion, and the INF package is $12 billion?

Nope. Your vision is clouded by your fawning. I can see clearly, which is why I said above (that you ignored): Take all the time you wish, but please deliver something tangible.
I agree. He does need to be given time. The proof of the pudding will be in what he can deliver. However for whatever reason the criticism has started yoo early for a new party which has to understand the nuances of Governance in a slug infested country like Pak land where corruption is the norm rayher than the excrption. The cultural change is not going to come easy.

Much of the rush to criticize is from the ousted party in retaliation for what PTI did to them not that long ago. That was bad then, and this is bad now, since it is nothing more than political jostling. I pleaded for patience then, as I am pleading for patience now. Pakistan cannot afford such bickering for long, I fear.

Immy going to Saudi again next week for a meeting with Saudi leader and also participate in investment conference. We might not need IMF. Let's wait and see.

Great! But how you are going to convince brainless puchiyas?

I think the best Imran Khan can expect is a partial support resulting in a stronger position from where to negotiate with IMF. However the long term success lies not in what happens now but what is done to secure the financial future of Pak land so we dont have to go out with a begging bowl again and again. This is what their performance will be guaged by.

With the situation right now not that hopeful.
If Imran Khan needs to induce confidence he needs to throw out that imbecile Asad Umar.

PTI knew in advance there is a cabal of mafias and corrupts operating together from stock exchange, finance ministry, power division, exchange operators, companies, etc.. that'll not allow them to work.
They are looking stupid and uncertain.
Not one action taken on the administrative side. NAB has been shifted on previous govt. ministers with bureaucratic mafia still enjoying the perks sitting with Asad Umar who have done incredible corruption.
The price rise of gas and other amenities is so huge and quick, public is scared and fear for what is to come.
Asad umar is letting the corrupt wreak havoc, they are doing more damage to PTI voter.
Their social media team can't fight the uneasiness and discomfort in the PTI voters.

Ishaq Dar also went to IMF but he managed the situation pretty well not shifting the burden on the consumers.

PTI govt.is looking more like PPP in 2008. Dumping more and more inflation on the common man, letting the free fall. Today again they increased gas prices by 300% whereas the stock market rose 900 points. This situation is getting worse. Stock market in no way connected to the public. Asad Umar on just one call of theres went to IMF. . Imran Khan should replace him with Virk or someone from PTi social mnedia team who'll do a better job than him.

If he throws out asad umar..than anyone who understands iota or even the basics of economy will stop supporting him including me...yes the sheep will like him till we fill for bankruptcy and start using the indian rupee like Afghanistan was using Pakistani rupee in 1990s

The good news is khan is not an idiot and he doesnt care of the sheep but thw country

The second good news is that despite global slow down, high oil prices the CADhas dramatically decreased with corrective measures ..the CAD is shrunken to half

For those who dont understand whats going on this what i posted somewhere else
Disclosure i am not an econmist but this is basic 10 grade stuff

Sir, I believe on yours policies but my background is not commerce. I need to ask a question and if possible please reply on it.
My question is:
Our import is far away then our exports but that imported goods are definitely selling in our local markets. I don't understand where we have more than 75% peoples are below poverty line and our buying power is too less because of the lack of jobs and per capital income is lowest in the world. How importers are able to sell their good in our local markets?
I will highly appreciate if you can answer on it!
Thanks.

because govt is subsidizing the rupee ..people don't have money but because our rupee is over valued, people have it...so who is paying ..the govt with foreign loans ..side effects ..=interests on loans is just making things worse...=if we continue to subsidize money we will reach point where either organizations will stop lending or we will not be able to pay interest ..= bankruptcy .= rupees will loose it value completely

Bhai.
Iam guilty of not having read your whole post. The main problem facing PTI is that this is the pool of workers they have to work with. You can not do as a democratic set-up what a revolutionary set up would do. The courts are trying everyone is trying lets sit back and see what happens. This lot may still be finding their feet but are at least not corrupt. The mafias are after them and the country is in a bad shape but can they run away from it all?
The media is hyper critical and impatient just like the masses. Did they expect manna to descend from heaven and oil to sprout out of every well? Setting up processes takes time. The only mistake they made was to think they could change things in 100 days. I see them struggling for upto 3 years before the finances start improving and 5 yrs before the country stabilizes financially. What we are talking here is a paradigm shift and these things take time. Asad Omer is not the problem what he inherited is. If you get rid of him who is next?

@araz

If situation persists or gets worse.

PTI won't be in power in 3 years.

Public was in much better situation under PML-N rule. They managed administration pretty well and did'nt allow hikes.

.
Mr Asad! you won't last three years if this is the case.

They need $12 billion to rebalance the books

Saudi is able to give $5 billion

China may match it

But still it’s short either way

in my opinion he has done a remarkable job....
i wasnt expecting reforms to move at this pace...
for any person knowing the basic would realize thats things are actually moving faster than expected ...
But so far he has political support..
he will have problems once he loses that support ...
lets see how the tax reforms and importantly state enterprises do...

The only problem is that Pakistani people have short memory..

my fear is that even if he stablizes the govt and get things in order next zardari or sharif will screw things again...
After all this isnt the first time when debt doubled and we went on brink of default ..its an exact repeat of what happened in 1998...
paris club re negotiations, IMF, USA aid and debt writing off in 2000s was the reason for debt to gdp ratio dropping from 85% in 1998 to 54% in 2008 than Sharif happened and we are back to 74% with projected hitting 80 again

Well if one person becomes an alcoholic and starts drinking and putting everything on line of credit he is in good shape till credit runs out..thats what PMLN did...people who know the basics understand it but people of Pakistan won't ...

So i expect sustainable growth in last 2 years of PTI but i also expect zardari and sharif to be back to screw Pakistan again as punjab hasnt given up on sharifs yet and sindh ofcourse belongs to Bhutto

WELCOME TO AGE OF DEATH OF REASONING

This is probably the correct situation on the ground right now explained by a PTI voter and Imran Khan admirer.
The Pakistani middle class is bleeding, the price hikes are like time bombs exploding and damaging long-term.
Start from @0:42

.
Well its good if we don't go to IMF but then Saudi condition or demands should be made public ...not to be kept secret like previous governments

.
This statistic can't explain the devastation and hell-raising ability of IMF activity in Pakistan but can provide an overview. Asia's most corrupt party PPP brought IMF in 1994 and took huge loans [1.2 bn]. Pakistan till 1993 was a great economy with Pakistani Rupee in 31 against the dollar better than INR. PPP govt. depreciated the rupee to 40 mark and above. PPP's initiation of corruption and dismantling of institutions like Health, Education, Power sector[Zardari 1994 program of stopping public funding for power utility that made Pakistan suffer loadshedding for another 20 years] also progressed under IMF program.
The chor and dacoits PML-N and Nawaz Sharif also took IMF loan but managed the economy and brought growth rate during their tenure in their last year of rule in 1993 when elections happened and Pakistan chose destruction in PPP.
Check 1995/2009 these were the times when middle class was annihilated with food inflation made to steal, beg and borrow. Brain drain, flight of capital, deindustrialization, suicides, hunger, social breakdown etc.. are few of the many consequences IMF has imposed upon Pakistanis over the years, esp. after 1992 and US policy change regards to Pakistan. This US dalaal @ziaulislam can't hide the after-effects from Pakistanis we have lived thru one too many IMF programs.
