PM Hasina urges all to be cautious in using power, grow more food

Even if a country has four times more food than it needs, it is not sure that people without jobs will not go hungry.

Non-agriculture people need factory jobs. Jobs do not come from only agriculture. In a labor-surplus country, the jobs come from industrial activities whereby people produce goods that are bought by those who have surplus money after selling their produce.

This is how a modern economy evolves and circulates. And, people's living standard goes on higher year after year when factories keep on churning out more and more mechanical/ electrical/ electronic goods.

If it is painful to initiate industrialization, a country can start reducing its population. But, even then not everyone will be owning land properties. And so, many people will have little means to survive without factory jobs.
the problem is new a days people need to have more then nessicity of life . if things go from worse to aplocylibte then i have a question how people live last 8000 years in indus valley ? there was no factories jobs and whatever still it was richest part of earth .

I think I have hinted about the population explosion in my previous post. It is so much that people cannot survive on agriculture alone anymore. How people without land can survive?

During the Indus civilization, the population in the Pakistan area was probably less than 1/ 1000th of today.

Everyone was holding agricultural lands, everyone lived mostly in the rural areas and very few needed to work other than tilting their parental lands. Lands were abundant and almost all were left without cultivation.

Now, with 220 million people in Pakistan, not everyone holds farmlands. During Indus, people cultivated cow dung as fertilizer. But, with the population explosion, cow dung has been replaced by chemical fertilizers like Urea, Potash, and others in the 21st century. A unit of land has to produce more.

These are expensive chemicals. However, their production, transportation, and distribution created jobs. I want to emphasize the production of any other factory goods creates jobs. So, a country has to keep on building manufacturing factories. If it does not want to perish, it can force people to reduce the population.

However, our leaders in developing countries like BD, SL, and Pakistan love to import industrial goods instead of going through the painful process of building factories.

The result is the bankruptcy of SL and the future bankruptcy of BD and Pakistan.

The strongest are the developed countries in Europe, America, Japan, and Korea. They have agriculture as well as industries. All these countries hold technologies that they developed over the last two centuries or more.

The population in those highly developed countries is not that high now. They also have old money to circulate through the world economy to get what they need. So, they can survive in a meltdown, albeit, with a reduced standard of living.

The oil-rich countries can also survive by trading with other countries. Even many African countries can survive in a hard-hid economic situation.

But, things will be different in South Asian countries because they are overpopulated and are without industries. Industries provide sources of income for people without farmlands. Essentially, the two groups exchange goods and services through the market mechanism.

So, even if one group has abundant agricultural goods, it will not find local buyers because the other group has no jobs and earnings. So, our countries will be facing more acute problems in a worldwide economic meltdown.

Many millions will die of starvation.

Ya u mean u went to top Australian school and ur house mates some how were able to enter same school who has iq of 50...as i said bs.
Only because you could not go to uni you have a madeup standard of White Uni students. No point of an argument with you, you are a dalal of property, what do you know about Uni.

The only thing Australian students are good at is beating up Indian students, wasnt long ago they were chasing indian students to their houses and beating them up, they knew who is an indian vs pakistani or bangladeshi from the stinky smell of not taking shower. Indian government cried and begged for it to stop. Miss those times.

The whole world is headed for an economic collapse.
True, bad times are coming.....

Bangladesh though has food production and energy (gas and coal) to barely survive so a bit different to pak and SL. It will take a bit longer for BD to go bankrupt, not saying its impossible but debt situations still manageable.

Forget 8000 years 100 years ago people in subcontinent lived on so little. Last 50 to70 years the world moved very fast, but this sudden economic progress has seen collapsed in history.

Old era will result in famines.
no one can stop old era to be back if ww3 or economic meltdown sir .

Agreed, I see this cycle coming to an end that is not too far away.

All this prosperity was a bubble created by debt fued economy and feat currency that one brilliant or should I say cursed community created to exploit others, These so called Banking geniuses wanted to create a new world order.

War, famine, economic collasp is coming, maybe it is in their plan as well.

U wont be able to get in to those community colleges let alone top 10 university. But why does uber driver need university degree any way. Be happy with minimum wage.

@Bilal9, great thinker-philosopher @UKBengali, @Destranator, @EasyNow, @mmr, and all others, please go through the video and you will see how this BAL govt has mismanaged the purchase/ import of natural gas. Corruption is behind the shortage of imported gas.

This woman has borrowed billions of dollars to import many powerhouses and now she is unable to buy the gas. Our Hasina Bibi loves to buy expensive foreign horses without ever thinking that BD lacks the money to buy the horse bridles.
We all know this. Few bd business owners benefited from quick rentals. Same reason bd dont developed its own natural gas...on shore and off shore...now will face the music as lng prices will only go up. But hey according to restaurant worker bd doing great. Keep enjoying no electricity lol.

Also no amount of cost cutting will save bd when ur tax to gdp is 8 percent...and export is based on only one item...cheap garments..and u r dependent on import for most basic things.

Fx wont stop going down either as bd govt become more desperate. bd sweatshop owners doing there best to bring even less of there export proceeds to bd now. Anyone who are close to bd business community already know this is happening. More us dollar shortage and more control bd central bank try to do situation will only get worse. Smart businessman will keep there export proceeds to Singapore or dubai.

May be keep your expertise on Bangladeshi energy sector to yourself. Clearly you have no knowledge of it.

There have been plenty of efforts undertaken to explore gas in both land based and deep ocean blocks. There were setbacks with Kris Energy (leading to litigation over tax bill), Santos (Sangu gas field becoming economically unviable) and Posco-Daewoo Corporation (leading to termination for not meeting contractual obligations). Only Chevron still in with Jalalabad, Moulavibazar and Bibiyana fields in Sylhet. But have tried multiple times to sell position before the gas output starts falling.

ConocoPhillips and Statoil refused to agree to terms of our production sharing contract, which is vital to protect our national interest. We cannot agree to terms and conditions that are not beneficial to Bangladesh and then lose our strategic reserve in the future. Why should Bangladesh agree to such terms?

On the other hand, nor do we have technological know how to extract gas from deep ocean blocks.

Even if there was an agreement in place with an MNC, it takes years to explore, develop the logistical infrastructure to begin production because of the geography of Bangladesh. It's not like in Middle East where you bring a rig and dig a well and start pumping. For instance, Santos had 5 year contract with Bangladesh just to explore gas reserves. What would Bangladesh do in those five years? Light candles to run factories?

Quick rental, for all it's corrupt background links was a stop gap measure. It's not ideal, but it was required to keep up with the economic activities in the country.

Bangladesh needed to focus on nuclear and solar to meet most of its energy needs. We are behind on that if anything.

Thank you for your valueable suggestion, wish you did that 12 years ago, I could have saved 100k and drove uber.

Only issue is in my family they value education more than money. Obviously you will not understand as you come from a hawker family. But again thanks for thinking about me, your family brough you up well even after being hawkers.
