ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Counsel Khawaja Harris in a reply to Supreme Court has refuted allegations that his client had concealed his employment at Capital FZE (Emirates-based firm) as Chairman along with an Iqama (employment permit), ARY News reported on Sunday.

The 25-page reply reads: “A copy of the premier’s passport bearing the employment permit was annexed to the 2013 nomination papers along with a document of his employment at the company.”

The reply annotates that the prime minister was an employee at the Dubai-based company and had received employment permit from the Gulf State as it was claimed by the ruling party leadership and Sharif’s legal team during the hearings of Panama Papers case.

The reply further says that the documents were attached to the nomination forms as there was no separate column in the form. However, the reply reiterated that PM Nawaz Sharif did not receive any salary.

It also clarified that the premier was not chairman of Chaudhry Sugar Mills as stated in the Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s final report.

The reply further states that the premier never attempted to conceal these facts, as declared by the JIT in its final report.

It is to be mentioned that the apex court on Friday (July 21) reserved its verdict after wrapping up fifth and final hearing of the ‘Panama Papers‘ case.

.
The PM was entitled to the salary and therefore should have declared it.
