Gin Ka Pakistan,

I respect your inquisition for knowledge. As most members have already said that Indian names are usually adopted from the ancient sanskrit language. There is no religious aspect involved here. Similarly as Indonesia & Malaysia still have ancient sanskrit names for their cities despite being predominantly muslim countries.

Please do not be hesitant to ask further questions. It only helps in understanding eachother better.

This is not a freaking chat room, or a thread to criticize a member. If you have the answer, answer.. otherwise leave it. :coffee:

True...! For example "GARUDA" is the national airline of Indonesia. Why would a muslim country name their airline "Garuda" which is a mythical bird appears in the Mahabharata?

If India is secular country then why all its weapon system have Hindu religious names. Please name one weapon system made in India which is named from any other religion.

Garuda is also eagle. Nothing mythical about it.

Home

Garuda refers to the sacred bird that served as "vahan" for Vishnu. I havn't come across any literal reference in some other culture.

. . .
this an interesting thread...naming the weapon systems of a country always is creative...
Babur...Ghauri...were invaders of India...and so are your missiles supposed to be...and so is Abdali and Ghaznavi..

. .
Btw, our long range, high endurance UAV, being developed by DRDO is named Rustom, a pharsi name. Hope that serves the purpose of this thread?

Good example ..... a name of Persian origin, a common name amongst Parsis ..... who over the past 1300 years have made India their home. Thus an Indian name, and not Hindu in any "religious" connotation.

Cheers, Doc
