PLA simulates siege on Taiwan's Presidential Office!

Again, history told us if we had invaded Japanese Homeland, we would have lost about 1 to 5 million casualty. That's why we use Atomic bomb in the first place.

Warfare changes, but war remain the same. We are not talking about some third rate country that even my next door neighbour can walk all over on, we are talking about a war with peer or near peer enemy, if China actually decided to attack Japan or Taiwan, they would have to prepare to stomach large amount of casualty. But then I remember someone once told me China can drive tank across Taiwan in 2 hours (Ironically, that dude was supposed to come from Taiwan) which I feel amazed as It took me 4 and a half hour drive last time I drove across Taiwan...

Someone said that eh? Jeez last time I was in Taiwan my buddies took at least 15 hours to drive around the whole island , then again we also stopped by the beaches and did some shopping in GTR

lol, how can you forgot? You were in that thread too

Taiwan is 90 miles wide at its maximum. That is the definition of no strategic depth.

You haven't changed one bit. Always concerned about semantics. I haven't heard a single original or useful idea from you to date.

Have you ever been on Taiwan? I lived there for six years. At its widest, it's about 90 miles. That means the average width of Taiwan is 45 miles. There is no place to run. A tank can cover 45 miles in one hour.

After landfall and a Chinese blitzkrieg, the Taiwanese Army will all be dead from a howitzer strike. A howitzer has a range of about 20 miles. The top quarter and bottom quarter of Taiwan has an average width of 20 miles. That means one half of Taiwan is fully within range of a howitzer. The middle section can be overrun by a tank in one hour.

That is the definition of no strategic depth. There is no place to run from a Chinese howitzer or a Chinese tank.
A Chinese WZ-10 attack helicopter has a top speed of 186 miles per hour. It can cover the width of Taiwan in 15 to 30 minutes. The island would be buzzing with Chinese WZ-10 attack helicopters. There is no place to hide.

If you are not familiar with Taiwan, I suggest you stop mouthing off. There is no strategic depth. I know. I lived there.

BMI! That's rather crude way to measure obesity, but unfortunately still prevalent:(

True. That's why I said promote via corruption lol:agree:
How do you think this (good-for-nothing fat superior) would affect decision-making during actual combat?

Good to know. Complex modern equipment must also add to training durations.
Do you know of @Officer of Engineers

Well, BMI is still the standard, but yeah, it's widely inaccurate, as people have muscle are usually tend to overweigh or even obese.

It's not that the officer in question will affect the decision making system, but rather the system itself are poised to be able to alter by external influence. That would seriously hamper decision making and to a point war fighting ability. Think along the line why Nazi Germany fail in WW2 even with superb general like Model, Rommel?

There are lot of countries which consider Chinese aggression to be a threat and actions of China have a direct bearing on the policy of my nation. When China adopts such threatening gestures like exercising for an assault on Taiwan, it's but natural for citizens of other countries with which China has dispute to respond.

Since the Chinese civil war has never officially ended, ROC & PRC are technically still in the state of war.

Nah dont talk and think like S and N Koreans
The China-haters will be having multiple orgasms in front of their screens if we do it like the Koreans

It‘s likely be due to this nanny

Sometimes I wonder if it is the "new money syndrome" like you see in well to do African Americans and Arbas who sometimes go overboard with their wealth, flaunting it for all to see.

The only "new money new power" syndrome or inferiority complex the world sees today is in the Indian community, on here and everywhere else unfortunately. Gone are the days to see humble Indians from the 2000's.

On the subject, the Chinese really want two-three USN fleets around Taiwan I think. They don't like just the 7th fleet by itself. Exercises like these will bring additional fleets if the Taiwanese get too concerned.....

.
My friend, personally I respect and admire China and it's people. What you guys have achieved in such a short period of time has not happened before in history and is unlikely to happen again.

That said, I pose a very sincere question with no intention to offend you - What was the need or point of this exercise? I don't believe China does anything without thinking, Taiwan not in a thousand years can possess any threat to China so what purpose does this exercise serve?

You should always take other people's concerns into consideration. When China protested against India, Australia, US and Japan exercising in 2008 we all stopped. We understood your concerns and every one expects the same from China

Thanks

is it, or is it not, officially enshrined in the ROC constitution to retake the mainland which is theoretically part of the PRC? if it is, then they are an existential threat. if it is not, then they are separatists violating the 2005 anti secession law.

that's not how civil wars work buddy. US didn't stop when the Confederates weren't a threat, they continued until they were smashed and punished the South afterwards. A house divided cannot stand.

I wonder if Chinese are inherently arrogant and their belligerence is just a cultural thing which has been going on for centuries or if their assertiveness is the product of their ascendant status on the global stage.

Sometimes I wonder if it is the "new money syndrome" like you see in well to do African Americans and Arbas who sometimes go overboard with their wealth, flaunting it for all to see.

Assertiveness is very relative. China has always claimed what we claimed, it goes back decades to even before the People's Republic.

It's one thing to stay humble and drive a Ford instead of a Ferrari, it's another to give up your ancestral grave because someone else thinks it's closer to their house.

Just because we have money and strength now, does that mean we should give up what's rightfully ours. If we start claiming Tokyo or Mumbai as ours, then yea, that's unnecessary, and assertive. When Myanmar bombed inside Chinese territory, did we immediately respond with force?

People choose to see what they want to see.

For the lack of a better comparison, how did you feel when the world was coming down on you for Pakistan because America was on their side. Same thing is happening to us.

Hahaha, we'll let them practice maybe practice makes perfect, God forbid they try to take Taiwan.

7th fleet and the JSDF might have to intervene.

Doubtful, no nuclear power has ever warred with another, when push comes to shove, are you really so certain that this "crazy, authoritarian, communist" government won't use it.

To use Japanese to illustrate.

It's weird that I have to say this, but I had this conversation before and NO I DON'T WISH FOR THE USE OF WMDs EVER. ONLY A MORON WOULD.

Some jackass CGIed some building on the news, this particular exercises is relatively new, but has been going on for a few years. It uses new blue army concept to mimic "enemy" forces, and uses unscripted combat to simulate real battlefield conditions.

Some guy drew the conclusion that this is against Taiwan, but in reality it's just like any other exercise that the PLA conducts except it's in a far bigger scale that involves multiple military regions.

China won't invade Taiwan, if nothing else, is India going to pick up the tab when we destroy it in an invasion scenario? Too expensive, China wants Taiwan the economic power, not Taiwan the waste land.

Pretty sure a smashed Ferrari is garbage.

From the foreigners above,we can see no country want to see a powerful China, lol,it doesnot matter,as a middle kindom,we are doomed to be lonely.
The 7th fleet?we can defeat it. JSDF?are you joking?we can easily destroy the whole Japan,Japan ISNOT and NEVER our true concern,we just use it as an excuse to build a powerful military to counter USA.
Whether the Japaneses,Indias, philippines,Vietnameses,Koreans like it or not,we surely will dominate the whole East Asian someday, you guys can laugh now,you can mock now,we know our real capability and potential, you cannot change the future. The only country can stop this happen is USA,if it dares to risk a nuclear war and its crown to fight us, maybe it can change the future,or else,it is just a matter of time.
I like to see your guys desperate face and helpless curse, you can curse us,you can say us aggorant, you guys ARE NOT our friends, and WILL NOT be our friends,so,whatever, no one cares.

Si vis pacem, para bellum. :coffee: No need to take offence, Taiwanese friends. Looks like the PLA is just preparing for the (seemingly) impossible...

No offence taken. :partay:

Will be excited to be re-united and become de facto part of a great power. Can't wait for the day the AIT is closed down and foreign agent-provocateurs are sacked.

The comments by foreigners trolling into every Chinese thread indicate they are afraid and jealous of us. Even Japanese cannot stand it, LOL. No one gives a shit about other threads other than Chinese threads.

@TaiShang @Beidou2020 @AndrewJin

Fun to read them. :partay:

Enjoy while it lasts. In the end, our destiny is in our hands, not some faraway foreigner's. Especially Indians. I love it when they perceive China as arrogant. It means, we are actually getting there.

Taiwan is by Constitution an inherent territory of China. That's the red line. Certain foreigners can self-satisfy, but, it is never simple they think. A China that did not give a damn to the US and pushed them back in Korea when it was in its weakest will not practically let a foreign power to interfere in its Taiwan affairs today.

My prediction is, by 2025, the Taiwan saga will be over.

Well if the popularity of Chinese threads keep up, might as well call this site CDF. If you take away the Chinese section, there would be less posters.

If one day we decided to move en masse, a lot of sad Indian souls. They inherently/subconsciously are thrilled about China, which represents their widest dreams. They would love to achieve a success that China has today (although we are nowhere near the ultimate goal and still a developing country) and be ten times arrogant.

Taiwan is just a ripe fruit waiting to be picked up. It is China to decide when to pick it up and embrace warmly. I can't tell you so many here are secretly waiting for that day, from highest academicians to men on the street. It is just not possible to quantify.

Actually, Not true

India and Pakistan at war in 1999 over Kargil after both side are nuclear power
Israel bomb Iranian nuke plant when Israel was a nuclear state and Iranian is a semi nuclear state.

.
The Chinese constructed a mockup of that scale for an exercise?

Taiwan should go nuclear !

India should become great power.

Israel bomb Iranian nuke plant when Israel was a nuclear state and Iranian is a semi nuclear state.

When? I know of the bombing of Osirak nuclear facility in 81. When did Israel bomb Iranian nuclear facility? Which facility? \
