PLA Navy patrols Bashi Channel between Taiwan and Philippines

In India, is the value of cables more than life itself? Maybe so for some high caste Indians toward lower caste or china looking north easterner. That's sad and different from western value or Chinese value where life itself is higher than cable chains.

No mate putting the lives of people in thousand fishing boats in danger by using them as cannon fodder for the sake of small rocks is the motto of PLAAN.

Communism do not care about lives or they do not employ western ideology or democracy, they only fight for Communist ideology and are ready to sacrifice any lives like Mao did.

I am sure China is going to go for war with INDIA, Japan, S.Korea and Taiwan.... There many movements like S.Korea buying NATO Humvees and MRAPs from Afghanistan.... and INDIA is also buying equipment directly....

Chinese never understand the game plan of west, these guys are indirectly aiding them by their bullying tactics and greediness. Sad part is Entire Asia will suffer.

You can say all these about what China did. But China PLAN didn't kill a Taiwanese fisherman in cold blood. The Filipino pirates did. So you can go over your assumption as much as you want. But your ignorance cannot cover the fact that a Taiwanese fisherman was murdered in cold blood by Filipino pirates. Stop distracting that fact by talking about PLA.

You can also criticized communism. But they at least value life more than Indian government. No wonder there are all these communist rebellion in the "democratic" India. Many in India rather have communism than democracy. Please stop regarding India as a democracy. Call it what ever you want but India is showing that democracy is much worse than communist dictatorship. Which I do not believe its true if you look at democracy in US, Europe and East Asia. But Indian democracy is a failure that is worse than communist dictatorship.

Philippine is really in the mercy of Taiwanese navy if Taiwan choose to attack. Its time for Aquino to apologize, compensate the family and turn over the murderous thugs that disguise as the coast guard. Soon, Taiwan will require the hand over the director of coast guard if Philippine don't hand over the thugs that murdered the fisherman.

As in the words of the Texan battle flag "come and take it" Now who about those uncivilized mobs who beat up those two Filipinos may araw rin kayo mga hayop!

Taiwan is afraid to go to war with the Philippines. It will never happen not even in the future. They have everything to lose and nothing to gain with it. So please enough talking and just conduct your military drills. We Filipinos don't care whatever you want to do with your lives

PH not threatened by Taiwan drills
By Madel Sabater – Namit

Malacañang on Friday said the military drills conducted by Taiwan should not be a cause for concern as long as it is done in international waters.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Philippine government is not threatened by Taiwan’s military drills.

“As a matter of rule, as long as the activity is within their borders or in the high seas, then it should not be a concern for us,” Valte said.

The Taiwanese government has conducted military exercises in the waters between Taiwan and the Philippines following the killing of a Taiwanese fisherman in the Balintang Channel.

It will be recalled that China also conducted military exercises near the Philippines but the Palace had said it is not a threat as long as the Philippines’ maritime zones are respected.

Valte meanwhile said the proposal to send former President Fidel V. Ramos to Taiwan to de-escalate tensions between Taiwan and the Philippines will be discussed with President Aquino.

It was former chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Foreign Affairs Apolinario Lozada Jr. who proposed that President Aquino should send the former President to apologize to Taiwan.

“That is something that we will have to discuss to the President,” Valte said.

She also said the Palace would not wish to make statements that would further escalate tensions between Taiwan and the Philippines even as China expressed rage over the incident.

“At this point, what we are after, really, is to look at what we will do in light of the sanctions perhaps not for discussion at this point, again, avoiding escalation,” Valte said.

“Our primary concern would be for the welfare of the citizens over there and second, the possible effects the sanctions may have on our OFWs who are there,” she said.

Valte also reiterated that the Philippine government has not approved any joint investigation with Taiwanese investigators on the incident in Balintang Channel. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has already started the investigation on the incident.

“There is a particular process that should be followed and the process should be followed,” she said.

“As to the timeline, the Secretary of Justice did not give a particular timeline but she did assure that the NBI will be giving the highest priority to the investigation that is being conducted,” Valte said.

“That being said, we at this point, do not wish to talk about the details given that the investigation is ongoing and we would like to wait for the final report,” she added.

You never know what kind of role would Taiwan play in the future of China. So don't discount Taiwan. As for Philippines, Taiwan need to make it clear that it cannot tolerate random murder of its citizens. And only through a blockade and shoot to sink any defiant Filipino ships would that message come across.

Taiwan has 200-mile EEZ except for 24 miles of territorial waters near Filipino islands

Why are you drawing the boundary 20 miles south of Taiwan's coast on the map?

UNCLOS clearly states Taiwan is entitled to a 200-mile EEZ (ie. exclusive economic zone).

You can't redraw the international boundary according to your whim.

You do know that Taiwan is conducting military drills 200 miles from Taiwan's southern coast, don't you?

Taiwan is following international law and staying 24 miles outside the waters of those little islands. Outside of those 24 miles, those waters belong within Taiwan's 200-mile EEZ.

Again come and take it! play on words firs your in our waters (80miles near a Philippine Province if you claim your proper country you should know your borders) so your case is simply sign of lack of respect for your neighbors as for the man's death our sympathies but a poacher is a poacher trying to ram a coast guard ship is idiotic at best so in all merits threat like that will get you nowhere and sick our ship will fight back assure you we will. On other note we just heard news that a filipino was stab to death while a Vietnamese was beaten wow very civilized of your kind its on MAtopacs head. May araw rin kayo mga hayop kayo! pagbabayaran niyo yan mga animal!

One problem taewan is not a member of the UN it has problem with its International status and as for EZZ the Philippines has more priority since its a archipelago nation not unless its with other nation similar to the Philippines so you have a problem there Imperial! May araw rin kayo mga hayop kayo!

Gee, where were those cockiness you have shown before this incident. You and those Vietminhs were so high spirited about giving China the finger.

Now you sounded so deflated and victimized.

Where is your big No Parking sign? Did you lose it?

Taiwan can follow U.S. practice and permit only 12 miles of sea around your country or islands

1. Taiwan has customarily followed UNCLOS and respected the 200-mile EEZ of UNCLOS members. In return, you are expected to respect Taiwan's 200-mile EEZ.

2. Under the One China policy, Taiwan can claim a 200-mile EEZ based on mainland China's ratification of UNCLOS.

3. Alternatively, we can draw the border at the midpoint line between the main coast of Taiwan and the main coast of Philippine landmass (Luzon).

4. We can follow American rules and say Philippines is only entitled to 12 miles of sea border beyond its main coast of Luzon. That's what the United States enforced against Libya.

The Taiwanese Navy and Air Force is prepared to use its military power to enforce a 12-mile international border around the Philippine's Luzon main island. Is that what you want?
