Is China Sending Troops To Syria?

The situation is heating up in Syria yet again. If reports coming from Almasdar News are accurate, another troop deployment will soon be about to take place – in addition to the 2,000 Russian troops who arrived earlier this week. This time, however, the troops are coming from China.

On September 23, Leith Fadel of Almasdar News (the Arab Source), reported that China has now decided to commit troops and military aircraft to Syria within the next six weeks. Although the reports have not been independently confirmed, the outlet cited a senior Syrian officer in the Syrian military for the claims regarding the Chinese plans. Fadel’s information has proven accurate many times in the past.

Fadel writes,

On Tuesday morning, a Chinese naval vessel reportedly traveled through Egypt’s Suez Canal to enter the Mediterranean Sea; its destination was not confirmed.

However, according to a senior officer in the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) that is stationed inside the Syrian coastal city of Latakia, Chinese military personnel and aerial assets are scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks (6 weeks) to the port-city of Tartous – he could not provide anymore detail.

Russia has made it abundantly clear that they are taking an active role in this conflict, but the news of the Chinese military to Syria provides more insight into their contingency.

It is without doubt that, if Assad were to ask China to engage ISIS in Syria, the Asian powerhouse would be well within its rights under international law to do just that since Assad is the internationally recognized government of Syria and China would have been invited to enter the country militarily.

There is clearly a mutual threat shared between Syria and China with both countries under attack from Uyghur terrorists who are typically controlled by Turkish and Western intelligence. China’s growing Uyghur separatists movement in Xinjang, recent bombings in Thailand attributed to Turkey’s Uyghur “Grey Wolves,” and Turkistan Islamic Party/Army of Conquest Turkish-backed terrorists at work in Syria assisting in the supplying Chinese Uyghur terrorists with fake passports and engaging in terrorist/military operations against the Syrian government, all represent a threat that exists both to the existence of the Assad government in Syria and the government in China.

As Christina Lin writes for the Times of Israel,

Some pundits may point to China’s non-interference principle as an impasse to action. However, China’s non-interference principle is more in reference to meddling in other countries’ domestics politics, such as US/western penchant for intervention and violating other countries’ sovereignty to overthrow autocratic regimes they dislike. Non-interference policy does not mean inaction when China’s security and interests are threatened.

It is not difficult for China to take action when its core interests are threatened–that means violation of its sovereignty, territorial integrity, economic development and regime survival.

At the 2011 IISS Asia Security Summit, Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie spelled out China’s core interests as the following: “The core interests include anything related to sovereignty, stability and form of government. China is now pursuing socialism. If there is any attempt to reject this path, it will touch upon China’s core interests. Or, if there is any attempt to encourage any part of China to secede, that also touches upon China’s core interests related to our land, sea or air. Then, anything that is related to China’s national economic and social development also touches upon China core interests”.

If the TIP continues to gain power within the Army of Conquest that is a jihadi witches brew of various al Qaeda affiliates and alafist extremists, Xinjiang may become the next Afghanistan and follow the pattern of Afpak, Syria/Iraq, with local militant forces/cross border havens attracting foreign fighters, and enjoying material and diplomatic support from Turkey and other outside powers with shared ideology/interests.

Moreover, the Assad regime is currently still the legal and UN-recognized government of Syria, despite only holding 1/3 of its territory. If Assad asks and gives permission for Russia, China and other SCO members to assist him militarily, that would be in accordance with international law.

This differs from the current US-led anti-ISIS coalition airstrikes in Syria that is neither operating under a UN mandate nor permission from the sovereign government, although it enjoys implicit permission to some extent from the Assad regime to fight ISIS.

Lin also notes:

With Erdogan waging an Islamist proxy war on China, Kurds, Assad, Sisi, Netanyahu via Al Qaeda affiliates, Army of Conquest, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, it is no wonder Syria and Egypt both applied to join the China-led SCO in June this year.

Thus Syria and China both share threats from the Army of Conquest that is attacking Assad and China’s Xinjiang.

If Fadel’s report from Almasdar is accurate, then it is apparent that the Russia-China bloc is finally responding to the Western-backed terror threat that comes in many guises but is, in reality, merely a product of the NATO intelligence apparatus.

In the meantime, while US forces finally receive some resistance to their meddling in Syria, the situation on the ground becomes more precarious for the world’s population by the day. It is time the American people begin to demand their government cease its support for terrorists in Syria and the rest of the world before it is too late.

I think it's time for the JSDF in Djibouti to assist clearing ISIS stronghold .

The beauty of warfare should be considered in the symbolism of artistic impressionism.

The Onna Bugeisha , for example, is testament to the cohesivism in beauty and lethal disposition thereof.

Similar to some women in China who trained in the Imperial Army as Generals, or even abbess leaders.

Just a rumor ... didn't see any photo to prove PLA in Syria yet. PLAN CV16 aircraft carrier still in SCS.

Most likely it is the Jiangkai II class frigate that is in Djibouti (based in JMSDF Naval base there, btw, bro). Anyways, I welcome and most of the JMSDF personnel welcome China's rise in active operations in Middle East and Persian Gulf. The 2nd largest economy in the world, and probably 2nd largest powerful military in the earth should have an active role in patrolling the crucial trade lanes in the Persian Gulf as well as through the Suez Canal.

I have been talking about this throughout my time in PDF -- and that is the collaboration of the PLAN and the JMSDF in overseas operations and military adventurism that is critical for global stability. We have seen this already in South Sudan, in Somalia, in Djibouti, and now we are seeing it now in the Syria - Iraq region.

We have to put away with minor political differences and cater to our global interests , which in the case of Japan and China are mutually inclusive (for the very most part). Japan and China are both export driven nations, with immense global interests in Asia and Africa, with immense personnel (civic) deployed there, with immense interests in humanitarian stability there. Our investments in that region are in the billions of dollars and must not be threatened.

China and Japan must actively pursue pro-stability measures and MUST NOT depend upon on western militaries or navies to secure our interests when we both CAN DO IT better. Not to boast, but the Navies of Japan and China, COMBINED, are larger than the navies of the NATO countries. Why should we entrust protection of our vital sea lanes in the Persian Gulf to western navies which are infintesmally smaller than Japan's JMSDF and China's PLAN?

No. Political correctness be damned, but economic solvency should be prioritized: SECURE OUR INTERESTS NOW.

I made a correction to my past post: It is not a Jiangzhu class frigate, but the Jiangkai II Class Frigate of the PLAN. Anyways, earlier this year the JMSDF Naval base in Djibouti hosted the PLAN's Jiangkai II class warship , provided strategic resupply and also conducted naval-to-naval collaboration.

JMSF and PLAN are very intertwined in the securing of sea lanes in Persian Gulf. And everyone in the PLAN and JMSDF knows this, of course this is not mentioned openly in Japanese and Chinese media, for strategic and general consumption purposes.

Here's a picture by Japanese satellite:

Btw, Japan provided strategic resupply of the Chinese warship.

LMFAO!!! see bro...China and Japan...we cooperate...ALOT. ;)

There is no credible evidence that China is about to intervene militarily in Syria. China's long standing position however is that it is ready to join the international fight against any forms of terrorism.

While commenting on information in some media about Chinese warships near Syria being ready to take part in a mission against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei told a regular news conference that, "Terrorism is the enemy of mankind,"and "China is against terrorism in all of its forms and is ready to apply efforts for fighting terrorist forces jointly with the international community. This position of China remains unchanged."

This is in keeping with longstanding Chinese policy and does not mean that China supports interfering in the internal affairs of any country, including Syria.
