PLA border outposts of Xinjiang Military Region are situated in a snow-covered plateau with an average altitude of 4,500 meters. The oxygen is thin and the conditions are difficult. India was. China was in the worst shape in 1962, enemy of both US and Soviet Union, wide spread food shortage. China almost begged India to have a land swap solution, but India just arrogantly rejected it. India saw China's vulnerability and just wanted to kick China when China was down.

I suggest that India buy winter materials from the Chinese market, and then use the logistics channel of PLA to send them to Indian soldiers. If this is done, the goods will certainly be delivered to the Indian front on time, and the price is very cheap. Most importantly, China does not sell second-hand winter clothes. All goods are new.

Indian Army was provided 10,000 sets of winter gear for their troops by the US. This was done via an expedited request to the US admin by the Modi government. However, there is a lot more needed by the Indian side.
