Thanks a lot you have already helped significantly, we are in to getting opinion/evaluation preferably today.

Good to know you already got the best advice from someone who is probably a doc himself and probably in the States too...

Best of luck to you and family, may Allah Subhan Taala bless your son with complete recovery and a healthy prosperous and happier life. Aaameen!

@ps3linux I think you got some good replies so far. US would definitely be your best bet I would say...in tier/field you are talking about here, they really are the best (rest of west is good too, but US really has the top level integration in healthcare that can't be beat).

Just query anything else as you need with relevant members (VCheng is a good kind soul and I vet him 100% :) ) and yes use your visit coming up in best productive way for it.

I hope and pray for the best regarding you son.

V sorry to hear this ordeal. I agree with you sir. The medical trained doctors churned out from Pk universities private or otherwise are worse than cheap & even worse. Gone are the days of 60s-70s when he had competent workforce, now we have androids from cheap plastik. Indeed very distressing.

About 4 years back during his A levels our elder son while player soccer for his school team fell down and injured his knee. Their coach who is a FIFA certified coach told us that he is such a good mid fielder that after further training within couple of years he will be able to play soccer for any international club. After injury we did all the usual tests x-rays, Cat scans, MRI consulted private orthopedic surgeons, Armed Forces orthopedic surgeons and rehabilitation specialist of AFIRM, but his problem of not being able to play soccer never got resolved despite all sorts of tests and medicine.

Last year we went for another MRI as he had started limping, stopped saying his prayers due to pain out of blues I decided to send his all MRI and reports to a friend whose wife is a radiologist on west coast USA and one radiologist in India. We received the same feedback from both that this is an SOS and the boys needs to be operated immediately (arthroscopy) and the remarks they gave for Pakistani Radiologists and specialist are nothing short of pure profanity.

Instead of going abroad we consulted the best (mean most experienced and most expensive) orthopedic surgeon in Quaid e Azam International Hospital after seeing the reports from foreign doctors he said it is a case of immediate surgery as there is collection of material and one of the ACL is damaged/ knee cap is misplaced. Oh yes that he will get 80-90% better.

We went for arthroscopy, long story short it been over a year we went for a follow-up MRI, send the DVD to international again and I am still reeling from the shock that the bas*ard removed the material but now instead of one damaged ACL it is two damaged ACL one of them is now out of shape. Couple weeks back I went to Europe and consulted a radiologist in UK he is of the opinion that we need to have another surgery to fix the knee, both ACL need to be repaired to improve functioning of the knee.

When current Govt wasted the a**holes of PMDC we were the happiest family.

Now we need some help according to radiologist we need to consult an orthopedic surgeon or sports surgeon with specialization in reconstruction of ACL, since money is not a concern, we want to be absolutely sure we are going to the right doctor this time can you please suggest any doctor with such specialty in Europe/USA/Canada.

Being a parent it breaks ones heart to see their child suffering from a problem which should have been diagnosed and fixed years ago.

I know there are some physicians here so I would request to suggest a surgeon, absolutely not in Pakistan. Special request to those who are living in Europe/USA or are physicians

@Nilgiri any doctors in the indian circle who could recommend someone.

@ps3linux, First of all really feel bad for the young man's struggle with a relatively simple sports injury and aghast at the lack of professionalism from the doctors who had attended him so far. We have a cricket club here in Bahrain and one of my close friend had a similar injury with triple ligament (ACL) complete tear. He got it operated here itself and (thanks to his tremendous will power and work ethics) he re-started playing full fledged within 7 months against the doctor's initial estimate of about an year.

Since, you have already zeroed in for USA, I'll not suggest any more options.

Just wanted to tell you that please concentrate on the post operative physiotherapy. The surgery itself isn't very complicated and good hospital/ doctor will easily fix the problem. However, to get back close to full functionality and strength of the knee, it is utmost important to concentrate on proper, dedicated and rigorous physiotherapy afterwards. Please ask your son to be strong and follow this advise earnestly. He'll start playing football within a year I hope & wish.. And yes, get a good physiotherapist.

All the best!!

Guys thanks a lot, I am over whelmed and humbled with your kindness.

I love everything about Pakistan its people, economy, weather however we as a family have recently added a disclaimer which says Pakistani doctors excluded from this love ignorant, kamchor, haramkhors.

Had the radiologist told us earlier we would have got it fixed years ago, it was a Spanish radiologist married to a Pakistani told us within an hour and an Indian radiologist to whom we paid only like $50.

Had the operating doctor told us that he has not fixed the ACL rather damaged another one we would have taken the next flight to USA, knowing the legal system here even if I take them to the court nothing will happen they will continue to misguide patients.

Thanks for the suggestions even last time the physio visited for home workout 4 times a week and he went to a rehabilitation center thrice a week, I guess physio/rehabilitation would have worked only if the ACL was repaired.

Nutshell, lesson is stay away from the incompetence of Pakistani doctors, rest of the Pakistanis are alright.

Jo ho geya so ho geya.. Don't worry, everything will be fine soon.

Regarding the highlighted texts, you are right. In fact, IMO, because he went through such rigorous physiotherapy, in-spite of having damaged ACL, must had aggravated the problem.

However, for the sake of repeating myself, I cannot put more emphasis on the importance of proper, dedicated and rigorous physiotherapy. I am 46 myself and had an surgery on my left ankle for repairing completely torn Achilles tendon in 2017 (in Bahrain). Did not follow the rehabilitation program after initial few months and still paying a price for it. Although I can function normally, cannot play competitive cricket anymore.

No wonder all the politicians and high-ups want to run abroad for their medical care. :D

Yes many of these a***oles had started their own medical colleges or got license for one during Dr. Asim Hussain's era, I have been to many of these honestly we are churning out doctors who are way below the standards of any decent paramedic of many countries. No clinical experience no diagnosis no nothing.

One of the reason American MD is accepted worldwide is due to their grueling clinical experience along morality and diagnosis, very tough lives.

May your son recover soon.

My prayers are with him

Give aga Khan karachi a try. They are good

Thank you both, really appreciate your kindness, would have loved to go to aga khan or qatar for that matter I know ethical standards of doctors at aga khan and Qatar are better, but we have already started consulting a US doctor in a specialized hospital as suggested by Vcheng and they are very good at what they do.

So we are leaving for US in third week of November, thank you all.
