the video looks kinda fake because after they lite up the boat you don't see any dead bodies floating around in the water and another question that comes to mind is that why would a pirate ship come that close to a naval ship? Unless they purposely wanted to get lit up by the Russians!

If Nato can come together to bomb the hell out of Gaddafi in Libya, what is stopping the International Community to perform the same in Somalia- perhaps a limited invasion of the pirate infested coastal areas of Somalia. Or is it that the oil is thicker than blood (of sailors).

The solution is simple use force. India and other countries need to come under one banner to top the pirates and group 'em with the terrorists. Once, that is done then whenever a pirate is killed, the credit is given to the banner that consists of many nations. This way not a single country gets targeted by the Somalians or any other group.


As for bombing Somalia in order to free Indian soldiers...well that is a step that the Indian gov't needs to take. Unfortunately, they lack the balls for action. As for Human rights, we can always argue our case that these pirates lost their claim to that once they targeted civilians and sailors.

The only way to stamp out the piracy is the use of brute force. This was how it was eliminated during the 18th and 19 th century. Anybody suspected of being a pirate was hanged and his body was displayed for the pubic to see. The modern navies patrolling the area should also adopt the same. Instead of waiting for the cargo ships to send SOS, they should aggressively conduct search and destroy anyboat suspected of being a pirate ship. Hot Pursuit( following the pirates into Somalia) should be conducted if necessary. Pirates should be made aware that they cannot escape by hiding behind their mothers skirt. Beat them in their own game.

USA tried in 1993 to kill M. ADID but failed. its not as easy as we see from here.

There are several Somalian coast towns that are considered "Pirate Havens". Send a few RAW agent in then find the family members of the pirates holding your hostage. Chop a finger off from each of them and mail them to the pirates. Each week your hostages are kept, their loved ones lose another finger.

As there is little infrastructure in Somalia and it is not the central GOVT that is sanctioning these attacks then it would be very hard to actually find valid targets for the IAF to hit -not that they don't have the ability, a flight of say, 6 SU-MKI, 2 IL-78MKI or Jaguars instead (don't need to be escorted as Somalians have no way of harming the a/c) as they have been deployed abroad before-Oman- would do the job nicely. Like I said there is little to be gained from this, however I think sending in small teams ( I don't know if this falls to R&AW or spec ops) to locate pirates/taken hostages is a great idea. As the Somalian GOVT has very little control this isn't even a provocative action against the country and would be a good move as I think I've heard estimates of 100+ Indian being held- this is not acceptable. But once again this comes down to political will and so I don't see it happening. Is it really going to take a change of GOVT or another massacre (76 CRPF massacre by Maoists) for the GoI to DO SOMETHING?!!??
