The only solution is to repeal Article 3-something. Recognize Kashmiris as Indian citizens only officially, allow ppl from all over to move in/out of there to settle and buy property, no double standards of treatment, etc. Force any villages or cities close to the LAC to be rebuilt and pushed further inland. Anyone guilty of aiding or assisiting in terrorism should face mandatory life sentences. When Kashmiris Godmen commit sexual crimes, such opportunities should be used to exploit in the media fully. To drive the point to the world, to Indians and to Kashmiris that local Kashmiris are engaging is such criminal behavior. Use it, exploit it for our benefit. Instead, the media barely mentions it and the girls are threatened by Kashmiris to keep their mouth shut. This is why India doesn;t have a clue how to handle such situations.



Development will never kill this issue completely. It requires a multi prong approach. Miltants will welcome development in Kashmir coz it helps them also. Think about it. It will allows Kashmiri miltants like LET to move easily throughtout India. This could turn out to be a very ugly affair.

Good move. Devlopment and investment is the ONLY true way any separatist ideas are going to die away. Provide young people jobs and a meaning to their lives- provide the opportunities for Kashmiris to be connected to be mainland in ever greater ways. Give them world class infrastructure like you are providing to other regions. Show these Indians that they are better off as part of the union than out of it.


Sme goes with the NE. Most of their complaints are about unemployment and poor infrastructure. Sort these out and the true hard liners will be completely marginalised by all.

Thanks for mentioning the NE. I have lived almost 20 years of my life in NE especially Assam and Meghalaya. Although both states provide with lot of of natural resources including oil, coal etc. besides Assam tea, the NE is still underdeveloped. The center must work for developing the NE ... and besides development there is another huge issue that needs urgent attention ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS...

ON TOPIC: Great development, connecting Kashmir with railways no doubt have several advantages. Great work.

Well My feeling is that, will they even consider them selves as Indians? Will this mean anyting for them? We can do all kind of develpment stuff for them but in the end if they are going to throw stones and say they want Freedom or want to join Pakistan all these investments are down the drain. Instead these funds can be diverted of NE people who consider them selves as Indians. I have interacted with few Kashmiris and all of them at no point of time consider them selves to be Indian.

One track with shoddy looking tunnel and so much hype.

60 + years and we are still connecting Kashmir to rest of the country. From Jallandhar to Jammu (initiated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee) it took them 12 years and counting to make two lane road both ways. Same is the fate of Rohtang tunnel connecting Manali with Lahul Sapiti; again initiated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee; Such a great visionary and doer he was. The same man invested in increasing strategic oil reserves and purposed connecting all the rivers.

This has become a picture of fraud and frustration seeing India putting snail pace mediocre infrastructure for its people especially those who are needed for strategic reasons.

How many ppl are hold a green flag ! Why can't ceremonies be organized with dignity ? If he wern't wearing a turban it would be difficult to distinguish ..

wrong dude!! We just need to get rid of separatists not all Kashmiris. People from Jammu and Ladakh have nothing to do with separatist movements. Even majorty people from Kashmir valley are okay with India if they get greater autonomy. Its just separatists dalals who get money from across the border wants India to leave. But who cares?? Even Kashmiris don't listen to them, let alone Indian Govt.

No brother we cant do that they are poor people living in very hard conditions who just survive for 2 wakt ka khana. One thing we should do immediately is move kashmiri pandits back to valley where they belong and treat kashmir as any other state of India.
