A few more facts about Pir Saeen Pagara.
1. First of all, the correct title is not Pagara, but Pag-Waro which has also morphed into Pagaro.
Paggh-Waro simply means 'The one with the Pagri, a Symbol of being a Cheiftain'. Literally in Sindhi it means Paggh (Pagri) and Waro meaning Wala. Thereby Pagri Wala or Paggh-Waro.
2. When The Hurs challenged the British and declared holy war against them, they put up such a feirce resistance that ultimately the British had to order a squadron of Spit Fires brought into India and an aerial bombartment on the Hurs finally made them succomb. This was the first time in the history of Sub Continent that Aerial tactics were used to route a resistance movement! (I'm not sure on the accuraccy of this attack being the first but it must have been definately one of the first)
3. Pir Saeen Pagaro also had a brother named Pir Jhando from the word Jhanda or Flag. The history behind this is that when Suria Badshah, the father of Pir Pagaro had two sons. When the time of succession arrived, and the mureed were anxiously waiting for the nomination of the next Pir, Suria Badshah RA handed his flag to one son and his Pagri to the other son. The former became Pir Jhando and the later became Pir Pagara.
4. Like the sons of Sultan Tipu RA, and the naferious tradition of the British, the two sons were wisked away to England and were subjected to much brutality. in 1950 Liaqat Ali Khan Sahab mediated with the British and brought back Pir Pagaro back to Pakistan where he united his mureed once again. Pir pagara would play an undoubtly emminent role in Pakistani Politics as history witnessed.
5. Pir Pagara has 5 sons, 3 from his 1st wife and 2 from his second. One of the sons in Pir Sadar udin Shah Rashdi or commonly known as Yunus Saeen. He is the current president of PML-F and Pir Sahab's most famous son. Not that i have 1st hand experience, but have heard that unlike his other brothers, he is a humane man, uneffected by the carnal vices. He has 3 children from his only wife.
6. The million dollar question as to who will be the next Pir Pagaro is yet to be answered. And a decision not void of heavy consequences. I predict some turmoil in the sucession. The position and stature of Pir Pagara is an important one and keeps the shanaigans of our shameless politics in check somewhat.
