They do have big dry dock to make 200K tonnage ship than whats your point here? they can't built 65K ton ship? What 500K tonnage ship doing?

It all started with your initial post!

Dude, they can build ships upto 200k tonnes

But they have not, and can not with such capacity dry dock!

It all started with your initial post!

Than why are you asking them to make 500K ship? If someone says that I can carry 20 kg maximum will you ask him to carry 50 kg? Is there any logic in that?

But they have not, and can not with such capacity dry dock!

Thats why I ask people to keep them up to date and learn more!!!

The new dry dock will allow Cochin Shipyard to build and repair vessels up to 200,000 deadweight tons, chairman Muthukrishnan Jitendran said. The shipbuilder, based in southern Indian city of Kochi, now has the capability to make vessels up to 110,000 deadweight tons.

Dude you are banking on future and not present - which is just 110,000...

So along with Kochi shipyard, you too need some update....

The IAC-2 is also future.

INS Vishal has not left the drawing boards :hitwall:

Concepts currently being examined by the Directorate of Naval Design for the IAC-2 are for a conventionally powered carrier displacing over 50,000 tons and equipped with steam catapults (rather than the ski-jump on the Gorshkov/Vikramaditya and the IAC) to launch fourth generation aircraft.

Read Karthik's post. lol As i said don't try this with me.
Well I relied on Wikipedia and gave you the source!

But yr point of contention was 200,000 tonnage, which is hitherto not possible anyway......so dont you digress from the tonnage factor.

But that was wrong. They have already taken the plan and will be completed before IAC-2 and their current facility is more than enough for IAC-2.

According to your logic, if they can build 110k tonnage ships, why not 200k and more?

Educate me on this please....

If they can build 200k tonnage ships, why not 500k and more?

Stop asking funny questions and make yourself clear before claiming that IAC-2 is being built.

Building an AC is not easy, also now CSL has trained workforce to work on AC, its better they continue the job. If the infrastructure is not there then government should make sure the expansion. As far as pipavav is concerned, they have a huge infrastructure, they can build 2 AC simultaneously with the space still remain to build a destroyer.

India will be building 4 LPDs under buy and make category. I think that project should be given to Pipavav as they can definitely build it quickly as they can work on 2 of them simultaneously.

As far as LnT is concerned, with the second shipyard in TN, they have a huge infrastructure now. They also have a experience in sub building. Not to mention, they were promised by the government about the contract for future submarine. It will be better that P75I be given to them. MDL is still busy with Scorpene and they will be busy there even after 2020, thanx to the delays. Future SSN can be given to them if they ever complete Scorpene while SSBN project can go on in Vizag alongwith some SSN after completion of SSBN.

.
Well your plans seems good but you are forgetting one factor which is most important. ie. having 3-4 AC by 2020. Thats possible only if we start building another one now in pipapav since IAC will be finish its construction only by 2014.
btw, why cant we use the CSL engineers in pipapav on contract ?
