pictures of the area you are living...

:cheesy: puzzels a european to see snow in a desert... if I think of a desert I think of extrem heat and burning sun

Why not? Have you never heard of Atacama desert?
Similarly we have a snow covered desert in Skardu Pakistan.
regarding the picture above, I suppose its some where in huge province of Baluchistan! It has deserts and hills in close vicinity.
Pakistan is a country of extremes. You can see snow covered hills faraway, while standing at spot close to 50°C.
If you drive 30 minutes from Islamabad towards city Murree, you will witness temperature change of at least 10°C.

Here's the picture I took from my surroundings.

My area is extremely dry desert in climate . It reaches to this in winter . It's called Quetta , from last year's winter ;

Other than winter , it has normal scenario .

It's how it looks like around me ;

Quetta is a city full of wonders. Yes the climate is harsh but you cannot compare it's culture and hospitality with any other city.

@Burhan Wani Thanks for those stunning pictures of Islamabad. when I first went there and we drove up Dame-e-Koh to that spot where you get to view all of Islamabad below you with the street/grid map model placed in front I was stunned. Awesome. And the temp in IDC was about 35 C but then when we drove to Murree up the mountain in less than 15 minutes and possibly 10 miles the temp dropped to about 15 C and then it went down every mile up we went. It was a remarkable journey along differant ecozones until we could see the Alpine scenery. Remarkable. And then we saw some English era Churches that could have been straight from Kent Downs.

And you are lucky to be living in IDC. Beats any other city in Pakistan.
