I love the etching on the knives. Hard to get that delicate work with rudimentary stuff.
I think it's probably engraved instead of etched. Very beautiful work.

Achang people 阿昌族

Husa people are a subgroup of Achang people. Even though they speak a distinct different tongue than the Achang and and did apply as a separated ethnic group, however, their efforts failed. Thus they're grouped as Achang people.

Most Husa people live in Husa Township Achang Autonomous Township in western Yunnan, near the border with Myanmar. Husa Township is one of the two Achang autonomous region, the other being Lianghe Township nearby.

Achang people 阿昌族

Achang people 阿昌族, numbered about 35,000, are an official recognized ethnic group of China. Most Achang live in west Yunna, especially in Dehong Autonomous Region 德宏 , near the Myanmar border. The ancestors of the Achang were some of the first inhabitants of the province of Yunnan. Their ancestors lived near the Lancang river and during the 12th century they began to emigrate towards the border the west of the river. By the 13th century, some of them settled down in the area of Longchuan, whereas others settled around Lianghe. During the Ming and Qing dynasties they were governed by local village heads. A subgroup of Achang, the Husa people 戶撒, felt they are a distinct separate ethnic group from Achang and filed for separate listing. But the effort failed so far.

Achang speak a Burmish language called Achang but have no writing scripts, instead they use Chinese characters. Many of them use Dai for commercial transactions because Dai is the most common language in the areas where they live after Chinese. Most Achang are Theravada Buddhists with a minority of them Taoists. Because they have no indigenous writing system the Achang use song and singing to record their histories.
