Indian Air Force flies into US & UK in their Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighters
With upwards of/around $2 billion USD spent by the U.S., each year, on building up 'Public Relations/Outreach', any international engagement with a branch of the U.S Military is, therefore, bound to generate a large amount of publically distributed content. As is widely known by now, the Indian Air Force [IAF], in 2008, for the first time, flew in to the Unites States of America to participate in the multi-national Red Flag Air Exercises held there. The IAF arrived in the U.S, flying in their Sukhoi Su-30MKI air dominance fighter aircrafts for this exercise2.
Thus, during the IAF's stay in the U.S, its Su-30 MKI aircrafts were the frequent focus3 of the photographer's attention. Interspersed among the humongous volumes of images uploaded on U.S military websites, are a delectable collection of hi-res pictures of the Flankers in actions. Been using them as wallpapers on the computers for quite some time now. Thanks to Windows 7's inbuilt wallpaper shuffler, the rigs gets a new wallpaper every 6 hours.
While most of the pictures here are from IAF's visit to the U.S, a fair number of them were also shot over the skies of U.K. The IAF visited the kingdom in 2007 to take part in the "Indradhanush"-series of bilateral exercises. That year, UK played the host, conducting them at their airbase in Waddington. The Sukhoi photographs from its visit to the U.K can be identified quite easily as they have been shot, flying alongside either the Eurofighter Typhoon or the Panavia Tornado fighter aircrafts, or both, flown by the British. As for the Sukhois on the ground, those shot in the U.K have a somewhat cloudy sky above.
