JL-2A means an upgrade version of the original JL-2, since China always keeps very low profile about its nuclear weapon.

I would say its specification very briefly.

Range: 12000km
MIRV: up to 10
CEP: around 100m

It is for the second strike capability just like other SLBMs.

The JL-2A is used to target USA from the South China Sea via the North Pole flight path, so 12000km is the minimum requirement.

BTW, China has never officially confirmed the exact range of JL-2, those 8000km allegements are just underrated estimation from the West.

Ask yourself this quetstion. If india has a missile like JL-2A and successfully lunched it from a NUK sub, what will indians do?? What will indian media do??
