PIA suspends its operations for Kabul with immediate effect

No need to drag PIA into the headlines and on to CNN. Man needs to be fired its not his business to go onto CNN. Their is PIA administration and then the government of Pakistan to take up the issue through proper channels.

If they want cheap flights, run their own airline.
Taliban can now fly on RPG's or Opium Air.

Firstly is this gentleman is authorized to go to the media never mind the foreign one? Don't you think there are and must be some sort of protocols for negotiations. Secondly state level or inter organisations talks are held behind the closed doors not on the CNN channels. How many times anyone have seen employees of any airline have showed up on the ABC, Al jazeera or CNN to start telling other country personal about the pricing issues. There is a PIA headquarters in Pakistan they are the one who should be handling any negotiations on any relevant issues and giving statements or states should be involved not any Aslam, Mansoor or Dita. Simply this is above his pay packet and he should be made to move on or otherwise PIA should improve their procedures no wonder they are running airline into the ground. Too many chiefs and not many Indians.
Yes, he is the spokesperson for PIA, he was instructed to send out a statement and he did so, when did he say talks are in the open or did i? Of course certain aspects are too confidential to be revealed that is obvious. What point are you trying to convey here i do not understand, are you trying to say that the PIA spokesperson statement is fake?

Regarding employees of other airlines talking to news channels i can estimate at least 100 articles, a lot of them talking about their own respective airline's condition in respect to wages to workers, working conditions and economically related talks etc, Pakistan is not a special outlier to this so i see this is as normal in regards to talking to Media.

Who cares what IEA want. We'll set prices according to ours, not to them. To hell with those ragtags.
Whilst i dont agree with what the iea said or done, one must not forget the economic plight of the afghans.

Negotiations should be undertaken by both govts.

.
PIA can speak to whoever they want
Should operate on lossws from afghanistan

.
No Rush PIA can focus on serving Pakistani Clients
When neighbors feel like there is enough demand or agreement on Price , the Airline can revisit

The airline was sent to help relieve humanitarian crisis at their airport due to mismanagement in first place

The flights for the elite that wanted to escape and for all the NGOs and press flying people in and out.
Doubt the average Afghan was flying to begin with .

Price is dependent upon. INSURANCE COSTS

Because Afghanistan is a war zone insurance costs to fly into and out of Afghanistan are astronomical at the moment

For some reason people or afghans in particular expect the airline to take the cost and not be passed onto the customer

Is this confirmed news that the Taliban held one of our official at gunpoint? Shameful if true!

.
I have just heard on the 'Tolo News' Afghan Govt' Aviation spokesman saying in Farsi that PIA had unreasonably increased their ticket prices from Kabul to Islamabad & Karachi (from $150 & $300 one way to $1,500 & $2,500). Until such time that PIA reduces the prices to reasonable levels, PIA no longer has the permission to fly into Afghanistan. A notification to this affect was shown on the TV.

'IF' this is true, PIA are to blame. One can understand the increase in airfares because the price of fuel has gone up, but to increase to such high level! The people being hurt are the Afghan citizens who have little or no liquid cash available as it is. I am afraid such actions are hurting Pakistan's image among the common man of the our Northern neighbour.

However this is only the Afghan TV news, I would request any member of this forum who is currently in Kabul to confirm if this is actually the case. Everyone knows that I hate Taliban and their ideology, but this does not follow that I would side with PIA even when they being greedy.

The problem is that even a basic commuter like me is facing horrible difficulties due to fuel hike. The hike is huge and due to this difference, the airline is hiking up its fares to another level. Also, they don't make a lot of profit from Afghanistan anyways

Airline ticket pricing is a very complex. Prices depend on multitude of factors from number of passengers, season, risk, route, insurance costs, etc.

We can't say that PIA is not exploiting the situation, but to be honest I can see prices increasing that much considering the circumstance, we need someone who knows what they are talking about to comment

Also how do we know he went to CNN, maybe CNN found out and came to them or picked the story up

Not defending Talis but I 100% agree with this part
Not knowing who the man is but in his defense a flustered man held at gunpoint for hours can end up venting to a reporter pestering him for answers.

Talib Spokesman perspective:

@Zalmay_Afg

The Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) called on Pakistan’s PIA and Afghanistan’s Kam Air airlines to lower Kabul-Islamabad airfare back to pre-August 15 rates. The ACAA threatened to stop flights between Kabul and Islamabad if the airlines do not comply.

PIA did what was in interests of its staff and their lives. Help comes later, lives of our own aviation staff comes first.
