What's new

PIA still Crap

Nawaz couldnt lead donkeys to a picnic yet alone deal with the complexities of privatization ...

for 5 years noonie league government was in power and yet it could not make a dent on PIA ... yet noonie top lackey i.e. founder of airblue made money and expanded... how did that happen???

this more to do with lousy administration rather than passengers... all passengers around the world are crap...

World wide if you go to Hotel, stay overnight and if you make too much mess
The hotel charges you "clean up fees"

This same concept has to be implemented in order to reduce the carnage left over by Passengers, in flights

Or PIA should charge $10 dollars from each passenger towards plane Upkeep, cleanup. Parents need to keep their Kids in check

Should really use a Large Soap Dispenser for a 300 passenger flights
It may just cost $30 to get bigger recyclable Bottles instead of the dinky plastic tiny bottles

Western Travellers are quite clean, in USA I have even seen places in corporations where they have paper covers for seats

For 5 years PMLN tried to privatize PIA. But were threatened with protests by PPP and PTI. Airblue was and is a private entity. As such it has to function like a normal company. There is no state bailout for them. They dont have thousands or workers for each aircraft. They don't allow an employees cousins chacha's sala to fly for free.

Don't make this a PMLN v PTI thing. PMLN had the right strategy. Just make a uturn and throw this massive debt hanging on the state's neck overboard.

. .

Dan is a major airline vlogger. And he just showed the world how horrible our national airline is. People here keep posting all is better stories about PIA while this is the bare naked truth.

Imran Khan said he takes uturns bc they are needed. Well he needs to take a page from Nawaz Sharif's plan and privatize this mess asap. Changing leadership hasn't worked.

If the nation of more than 200 millions is so barren that it could not cultivate a good leadership to run an commercial aviation business and we are looking for privatisation of it; then by same logic we were unable to govern Pakistan in positive manner since last many decades. Why we should not go to privatise the GOP?
In reality, PIA was one of the brilliant airline of its time and also honoured for being 'Mother of Emirates'.
We as Pakistanis destroyed it by killing the merit based selection in jobs and switching to political based recruitment of Jiyalas, Jamatyas and Patwaris.
In last decades the corruption kings and thieves were eyeing the 'Roosevelt Hotel' in USA and IMO this is the main cause of some with vested interests to raise voices for privatisation of it.
If, in case Pakistan could not avoid the privatisation of PIA, we should support the idea to sale it to PIA employees, but I am afraid such suggestion will never materialise.

Airblue was and is a private entity. As such it has to function like a normal company.

You are right, the one who is running Airblue was previously chairman of PIA, so at that time he was unable to manage PIA. Actually he was appointed with vested interests and to make PIA so miserable that even common Pakistani support the idea of privatisation.

British Airways is private, Lufthansa is private, Air France is private, KLM is private, Turkish is private with a minority govt stake, the US has not one state owned airline. Are these nations barren? Are they without good leaders? Wake up man the state should not be in the business of business. Airblue is running just fine. If PIA was privatized it would fix itself or die. And then another airline would fill the gap..one that could pay the state a fee to license the title of pakistan's national airline.

As to your allegation about Airblue CEO...if that was true he would be in NAB custody right now. But its not. Its just desi whatsapp rumor. When you fly airblue you have a clean airplane, efficient staff, on time dpeartures and arrivals. That is why they are surviving.

Don't lure from the question asked. The all airlines which you mentioned are from Europe, where there is transparency and stringent laws to monitor COI, competitions, corruption, recruitment etc.
Is there any initiative from Corruption kings and thieves of Pakistan in such regards? They were and are always busy for strengthening their corrupt families hold on Pakistan. So does they always bying/establishing business in Pakistan to strengthening themselves. By your logic, if the state should not be in business then a businessmen also should not be allowed in government.
Leave this matter for now, when the laws in Pakistan will be transparent and stringent to deal with such issues, then it could be decided. Let Pakistan to be cleared of corruption.b

It is not my allegation, the truth seems to be bitter, in reality he was chairman of PIA.
Oh ... how many yeats had been passed, did he paid the dues of all who died in Airblue crash? Just conduct the survey and get back with data.

Turkish Airline is from Turkey not Europe. The US is not in Europe. And what does law have to do with anything? British Airways was a state owned carrier, so was KLM/Lufthansa/Air France/etc. All were privatized bc they were wasting money. That is exactly what is happening in Pakistan.

And as to your analogy...seriously? A businessman is not a government. A businessman is a person with a vested interest in the success of the enterprise they are running. A govt does not have to worry about profit/loss, is tainted by political bias and answers not to shareholders but to interest groups and voters. I am not the first person to say that government should not be in business :

As to the Airblue comment...again I ask you when did Airblue get a 100 billion ruppee bailout package? When has Airblue come begging for state funds? When has Airblue been overstaffed? When has an insect ended up in an airblue catering order? And as to the Airblue crash...huh?? Yes they have paid:

https://www.dawn.com/news/738133#ta...ed and assisted,in remembrance of the victims.

So like I said....open your eyes, stop listening to nonsense on pakistani talk shows and think.

.
I generally suggest that passengers should be charged an extra $40 fee if their seating area is left dirty i.e Chips or snacks bags or empty bottles or they flip the food tray while seated

Charged on the seat , and then backtracked to the credit card on file for traveller

Definitely, thats the only way our people learn. Fine for standing up and taking luggage out before the plane has stopped.

Turkish Airline is from Turkey not Europe.
Partly Europe.

The US is not in Europe.
Not European but western.

And what does law have to do with anything?
Strange ... your thinking is that. Everything is based on laws either businesses, crimes, traffic, social, religion. In Pakistan, some people think like you law lessnes only put a human in par with animals. Just look at the condition of Pakistan, how the corruption weakened the state of Pakistan as thieves looting it, who were only stuffed the looted money abroad and made properties.

British Airways was a state owned carrier, so was KLM/Lufthansa/Air France/etc. All were privatized bc they were wasting money. That is exactly what is happening in Pakistan.
Again ... I will say, until the garbage cleaned from our institutes, which accumulated since last many decades ... not maintainable in Pakistan.

Exactly ... businessman is not a government; but a businessman is a person with a vested interest in the success of running his own business/enterprise, he is running.
Did you encountered any businessman who sold/provide you anything by preferring your interest over his? So this is the general instinct of a businessman.

As to the Airblue comment...again I ask you when did Airblue get a 100 billion ruppee bailout package? When has Airblue come begging for state funds? When has Airblue been overstaffed? When has an insect ended up in an airblue catering order?
This state of the PIA is only and only when we killed the merit and recruited Jayalas/Jamatyas/Patwaris to destroy once a brilliant and fine organisation, being a state owned, which were an example to others and even USA first family preferred to fly on it. Did you know how the PIA motto, 'Great people to fly with' came into being? You need to revisit the history of Pakistan.

So like I said....open your eyes, stop listening to nonsense on pakistani talk shows and think
Here, I will just say that you need for some introspection and not the mantra, 'بیچ دے OLX پر' of some politically influenced people. Want to learn, learn from ethics, laws and examples of good people not from politicise garbage of Pakistan. These politicised business mafia just delivered to you a Pakistan overridden by loans/debts and at the edge of bankruptcy ... how good these businessmen were while leading Pakistan. So please open your eyes and wake-up along with consciousness.

so they could not privatize but decided to put retards to run the airline.. great!

PIA is not going to get privatized. The Indian government put Air India, a larger carrier, up for sale and had no takers. Air Blue doesn't have the ridiculous labor contracts that PIA is forced to put up with (although that Air Blue conflict of interest is why the flight to JFK got cancelled).

Like everything else in Pakistan, PIA is going to need time to be a good carrier. Part of that is getting rid of the excess dead weight in terms of staffing and fixing the cleanliness and maintenance situation.

You are not understanding what I said. First...the OP said European airlines...Turkey is an Asian nation period. The US is not a European nation. Period. Facts matter.

Second, my entire point is that a private business with no state subsidy cannot afford to be as bad as PIA. You talk about the lawlessness of Pakistan. Where is the most corruption? In Parliament!!! Why one earth would you let those thieves have oversight over any business??

Who put jiyalas and patwaris into PIA? Politicians. And yet you cannot get over the fact that it was PMLN that wanted to privatize PIA to stop this BS.

As to your last point...I really don't know what you're talking about. Every nations business leaders have poltical interests. Who do you think backs Modi? Some poor idiot in Mumbai slulm or Anil Ambani? Who donates to every political campaign in the US? Not beggars on the street but people with interests like business owners.

Stay on the topic...PIA has not improved. The current MD says revenue has increased by 46 percent and yet still is going hat in hand to SBP for more money. The airlins is a mess, will be a mess and in all honesty is not needed. Private airlines will serve local demand and even the few international routes we have. Airlines like Turkish Airlines have connected the whole world and we cannot hope to compete with them.

PIA is eating up hundreds of billions of rupees in state funds every year. That money could go to the Ehsaas program or developing export industries. Or building dams. Whatever. Bottom line PIA is not needed, is terrible and anyone with common sense would privatize it to stop wasting state funds.

so they could not privatize but decided to put retards to run the airline.. great!

It doesn't matter who you put to run PIA. Imran Khan is running the country and PIA is still a mess. The whole airline is full of idiots/thieves and incompetent people. The culture of the company is terrible.

I have a few apartment buildings in Chicago. Im a busy physician and dont have time to deal with nonsense. I had a few employees who were supposed to take care of things. I paid them on time. They never did good work. What did I do? I fired them all. Out sourced these things to other companies and automated a lot of it. Took scumbag human beings out of the mix.

The GoP is far too busy to have to worry about some crap third rate airline. They need to fire everyone, outsource the routes to well run airlines for a licensing fee and be done with it.

You are just suggesting that corruption kings are the ones who wants to privatise PIA.
Already pointed, there evil eyes were on the great asset of PIA the 'Roosevelt Hotel'.
Stop this drama of privatisation.
Open your ears, if ever PIA going to be privatise; it will goes to its employees not to any front man of PPP/PML-N/PTI etc.
Corruption kings are out and PIA started to stand and this year's performance was better.
You will see, how it will flourish again. We just need sometime.

.
I have posted here several times of my and my family's experience with PIA in the last one year.

From international standard, its still very below par. But by what it was before, its a lot of improvement.

There are very few airlines that are top standard these days. PIA was one of the top airlines at one time.

In one of the flights I traveled by Air France for example, their entertainment consoles were falling apart and at the seat in front of me on a 777, it was stuck with a duct tape!!

When did I say sell it to PPP/PMLN? Sell it to turkish airlines. Take it public. I dont care.

Have u ever stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel? I have. It is crap. It is not some great asset.

Are you seriously suggesting that a hotel is the treasure of Pakistan?

Government owned companies do not work in poor countries like ours. Certain things must be government owned bc of security concerns. But airlines are not one of those things.

Dude its always like this. When Musharraf came PIA was supposedly reborn. All it did was get new planes on the cheap and took more freebie money from the govt. Nothing else. All just propaganda. Today is the same.

PIA will never be profitable with its current style of business. My father flew on PIA from Islamabad to Abu Dhabi. In July. Business class. Who was sitting next to him? MP. His wife came on board. No ticket for business class. Sat down next to her husband. That was my fathers seat. Airline tried to get my dad to go to economy class.
If my dad didn't raise hell it would have happened.

This is PIA. It has not changed and never will. It needs to be thrown overboard so these entitled pigs in parliament can't keep robbing our nation blind.
