From October 22, 2020, to October 21, 2021, following four PIA airliners underwent ramp inspection outside Pakistan under European Union (EU) Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) programme:

Boeing 777 registration AP-BGY
Airbus A320 registration AP-BLS
Airbus A320 registration AP-BLU
Airbus A320 registration AP-BMX

Inspections did not find any irregularities in these four PIA aircraft.

Pia must induct new aircrafts such as A 350 and b 787 and buy A 380 from etihad they r selling it cheap these A 380 would do wonders for hajj and umrah pcked flights they carry more passangers our hajj operations always get full most customers dont get seats with this we carry more passangers more profits

ap bhi badshah hai PIA can not buy A350 AND B787 not because only they have no money but also they are made with composite materials and PIA have no maintenance facilities not team training or even tools to maintain them its like inducting a new aircraft in airforce costs so much . about A380 only islamabad airport can handle it in pakistan and a new wide-body will increase massive loss to PIA sir . all PIA can do get younger b777s and a320s to keep flying but until EU ban is there we have no hope for PIA . its already a dead horse .

no sir they can not be returned unless lease term will be over and PIA will send these aircrafts to MRO somewhere and re-delivery back to leasing company .

as of now situation is this

Three A320s are grounded

Three 777-300ERs are grounded.

Two 777-200ERs are grounded

One 777-200LR is grounded.

That is six out of twelve, or half the B777s fleet is grounded.

PIA as an airline is most scrappiest airline of world . cannibalizing aircraft to get parts is safety ? ask your air force ex CEO where are two a320 and ab777 since more then a year ? yes he cannibalized them for parts .

if they show auditor b777 APBGL and APBMS he will pissed off and give 0 star to PIA .

Grounded PIA Boeing 777s underwent controlled cannibalization because Boeing ended Component Services Program for PIA due to lack of funds/poor cash flow experienced by the airline, says airline's CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik.

PIA is holding talks with Boeing for the resumption of Component Services Program. Grounded Boeing 777s will begin returning to service after PIA starts getting components from Boeing.

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is now ranked among the best airlines in the world that have the safest operating records after achieving perfect safety ratings from the European air safety watchdog SAFA (Safety Audit for Foreign-Origin Aircraft), with zero index.
SAFA conducts periodic and surprise checks for all the non-European Airlines at different airports across the world.
PIA, being under consistent scrutiny ever since the pilots license scandal surfaced, was subjected to more extensive audit checks at most of the international airports by SAFA inspectors.
However, with zero findings being recorded by SAFA since last few weeks, it has lowered it safety hazard index to zero, which is a perfect score. Sharing his views on achieving the Zero index safety ratings, PIA CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik thanked Almighty Allah for his blessings and congratulated PIA team for their sincere efforts working tirelessly to achieve highest ever safety ratings.
He said now after the restructuring of PIA's Safety Department, more stringent in-house safety checks are being undertaken on all its international flights. A new safety awareness culture has been introduced in PIA whereby special emphasis and career incentives are given to employees whom adhere to the culture.
He further said PIA has offered professional support to the regulatory authority in Pakistan as well, aiding them to clear the ICAO Audit in November of this year, paving the way for resumption of flights to west.

See how accepting flaws and correcting them works out in the long term vs brushing it under the carpet. This is for the 1000's of passengers that use PIA.

I said the same thing when the pilot scandal surfaced, we will come out better. Temporary pain is worth it in the long run against burying your head in the sand.
Hopefully PIA never falls again to nepotism as it has over the previous regimes.

There is a reason why mature and responsible airlines and regulatory authorities spend millions of dollars in investigating each crash and not try to actively cover up.

Sir the news is exactly what's its being told. You are reading more into it than what is being written in the article.

PIA has not become Etihad or British Airways 😂. That's not what the article says.

What the article is saying is,

We are improving on our safety protocols and checks for international flights at least.

Regarding your point about grounded aircrafts or PIA loosing money, of course flight operations were severely restricted by COVID.

Etihad Airways made a loss of ~$5b that's more than our CAD for the whole last FY. The government bailed them out with an emergency package of $3b and further incentives down the line.

PIA has been reducing its losses before COVID came.

SAFA is a safety regulator and that's exactly what they said. I hope we maintain the same standard going forward.

Hopefully PIA will clear the ICAO Audit in November so we can resume our profitable flights.
