Dont expect this stupid transit agreement to with stand since it was brokered by the Americans themselves, while we know how are the relations b/w Afghanistan-Pakistan-India. In this agreement the Afghan trucks can come all the way to lahore! which is total unjust since Even Chinese trucks have to dump their cargo in the Pak China border and from there the pakistani trucks carry the cargo all the way down to the ports. Now about the Pakistan exported goods are concern i think the more realistic route will be from China to CARS not Afghanistan route since Afghanistan's security is worst and there is no real hope of its improvement in short to medium run. So the best feasible route is the Chinese one ignoring Afghanistan route since it can give access to much larger part of CARs including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia and even with East Asian countries like Koreas, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan etc..here this will help you...
The Afghan officials pointed out
that huge amount of Pakistani
goods were transported through
Afghanistan to Central Asian
countries every day. Transit trade
between the two countries is
governed by the Afghan-Pakistan
Transit Trade Agreement that
came into force in June 2011. The
pact, brokered by the US, allows
Afghan trucks to carry goods up
to the Wagah border crossing.
However, Afghan trucks are
barred from carrying Indian
exports on their return journey
from Wagah, he added.
Pakistan recently refused to
allow Afghanistan to transport its
goods up to the Wagah border
with India claiming this was not
permitted under the bilateral
transit trade pact

Star Alliance is not Indian owned...I am a frequent flyer of that and they exchange planes all the time...1 min you are in Luftansa the next they can swap it with any other airways...So Air India will need to let all its traffic go to other partners and concentrate on going Eastwards
can you legaly do t as per international norm and rules?
same works both ways. All PIA flights to south east will have to take a much larger detour.
That's the problem with incomplete analysis. Just see what percentage are these flights of the total flights of PIA. Also compare the size of India vs Pakistan and hence the amount of detour that the respective flights have to take if India is closed for Pakistani flights and vice versa. Also remember that its only flights from Delhi airport that need to fly over Pakistan. International flights from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai etc all bypass Pakistan anyway. On the other hand, irrespective of where the flight takes off from in Pakistan, if its going to Nepal, HongKong, BD or south east asia, it needs to go over India.PIA has less than 5 flights that require transit of Indian FIRs and none of them are daily.
All EU, North America and some Mid-East Air India flights require transit through either Karachi or Lahore FIR sectors.
Should India's politicians continue to play games, Pakistan should ban all VT-XXXX registered aircraft from transiting Pakistani airspace.
This would hurt India a lot more than Pakistan and the detours required for Europe and North America would cost Air India millions in just the space of a month.
--Pakistan can do whatever she likes with her own airspace.

You may have to close your flights to bangkok, Dhaka, KL, Beijing etc if India closes its airspaceThat's the problem with incomplete analysis. Or shoot down anything that flies from INDIATime to ban airspace for all Indian airlines.

But the reason why i asked this question is to know what u feel is right and wron''Pakistan through nefarious tactics put Indian Airlines in a condition to stop flights to Pakistan. As such, till such time that IA/AI (Indian Airlines/ Air India) starts operating flights to Pakistan and requires to purchase property in Pakistan, the proposal may not be allowed on strict protocol of reciprocity.” - See more at: MHA wants ED to take over PIA assets | The Indian Express
@Dem!god @Lord Zen @mr. nair @karan.1970 and other indian......? The real reason has just came out now!
Its not rules of the country to be followed but its tit for tat policy. If u want Air India to purchase the property in Pakistan then she should follow Pakistan's Laws as well. I dont think its too much to ask.

According to the May 1977 agreement between PIA and RBI, the Pakistan airline would require prior permission of the RBI to acquire immovable property. The Foreign Exchange Management Act also requires companies registered in Pakistan to take prior permission of RBI to purchase immovable assets. In this case, PIA informed RBI after purchase of the property in June 2005

i just gave my answer to the question or opinion u asked. Rest of my post was not for u but for those who were saying that they could have not been following rules and its reported . RBI was informed when they had opened the office. The issue is not abt rules as reported the source from which i have quoted a paragraph but its yr own tit for tat response since yr own airlines here was punished to have not followed the rules so if they have taken that to their heart and left the country then its not my countrymen's fault nor is of GOP nor PIA.--
Thanks but no thnks for your services..
.
as mentioned in this article they are not . There were no privileges involved in this case.Is Air India operating in Pakistan ?
I don't think it's a tit for tat policy... But if relation with India gets hostile we may revoke certain privileges given to Pakistan & it's subsidiaries. We are just strictly following our rules which we never did earlier in order to prevent a diplomatic row with GoP.
Yr airlines and nations get the privileges as reported in this forum time and again. I could have said this for new members but yr a member of this forum whose even senior to me!Comprehension is such an issue with you guys.. Let me bullet it out for you
1. First of all, about the rules. The rules are as follows as per the article quoted by you. In this case PIA violated the rules and did not take prior permission. So the assets need to be disposed off..
2. Secondly, if PIA wants that approval, it will be based on RBI's discretion which will depend on whether Air India gets a similar playing field in Pakistan.
I mean, c'mon you guys.. Try and understand the article before you start jumping around.
just ban indian flights over Pakistan. Most westward flights pass over Pakistan
