NEW YORK: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed deal to sell its routes to US and Europe, apparently due to shortage of airplanes, Geo News reported.

Sources were of the view that as per agreement, PIA airbuses, on all incoming and outgoing routes, will fly as far as Turkey, from where, Turkish airplanes will fly till US and Europe with PIA passengers on board.

The deal will be effective from March 2011 while the agreement will be made public within some weeks.

Sources also said that new PIA flights will be started for Houston, US, in order to send people message that PIA is still in operation on US routes.

PIA airbuses being used for US routes now, will then be operated on routes to Beijing and Sydney, sources claimed.

Even PIA’s MD Captain Haroon flew on Turkish airline for US journey, sources claimed further.

I had archived this link few weeks before. It had details of how PIA was making profits & how they added new routes, by aviation minister himself.

Business and Economy - Pakistan -

Now the page is blank. Was that a hogwash by the aviation minister? If so, the GoP seems to be losing all the credibility.

WTF, how much more poor can PIA go.they are making mess out of everything

If and ever nawaz sharif comes in power he is going to sell this PIA. Though sad but that is the only way to go FWD. At this very moment PIA is among the worst Airline in terms of service.

Another set back for national carrier, the future is not looking good for the PIA if things continue to move is the current direction, the airline which had a rich past and the airline which itself used to lease planes to other airlines.
Emirates leased a new Boeing 737-300, as well as an Airbus 300B4-200, both from Pakistan International Airlines which were returned in 1987.

PIA and poor ??? .... They are blood suckers especially for us in Hong Kong ... As per my knowledge, return ticket from Hong Kong to Pakistan is more expensive than any other destination in the world because of PIA ... 7300 HKD to be precise ... that is roughly 73000 Rupee :angry::angry: ... while other airlines are taking and bringing back passengers from / to Hong Kong to / from the furthest corner of USA for around 6000 HKD ...

If that will happen i will not travel with PIA any more. I will fly with emarites or any other than PIA. Can also travel with AIR BLUE

.
Why sell all routes ? Keep best routes like UK , Norway/Denmark and few others. I am very sad after hearing that :(( QATAR Airline wanted to buy PIA but Pakistan did not sold than :( They should have done that if out come was this.

I have alawys been travling with PIA despite paying more than other lines. If this happens no more PIA on me....

Don't make stupid speculations. This isn't the reason for this pathetic decision by the corrupt admin of PIA.
