RAF jets scrambled after incident
RAF Typhoon jets have been launched to investigate an incident involving a civilian aircraft within UK airspace, the Ministry of Defence has said.
A Pakistan International Airlines plane has been diverted from Manchester to Stansted Airport, a Manchester Airport spokesman said.
An Essex Police spokeswoman added: "An incident has occurred on an aircraft. Police and partners are responding."
The BBC understands that the plane has now landed in Stansted.
The plane reportedly left Lahore at 09:35 local time. It was due in at Manchester at 1400 BST.

Separate incident- that one involved a British Airlines flight.
UPDATE- PIA flight has landed at Standstead- armed police are on the ground.
Plane was due in Manchester, Heathrow is in London.
Nope 2 things- 1) the BA incident was at HEATHROW- this flight was from Lahore to Manchester airport (has no been diverted to Stanstead though) and 2) runway 2 at Heathrow has now re-opened.

So, any update about reason?
According to BBC News, a Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon combat aircraft was dispatched to escort PIA Boeing 777.
According to a PIA spokesman, on an information about presence of a bomb aboard the aircraft, the PIA flight PK-709 was diverted to London-Stansted Airport where the aircraft is being searched by security personnel.
There are 308 people aboard the aircraft including crew members.
