PIA carries out first ever Check-C on Airbus A-320

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Sunday successfully accomplished the first ever Check-C of Airbus A320 at airline’s engineering base at Karachi.

According to the Spokesman of the airlines, during this maintenance exercise, carpet and seat covers of aircraft AP-BLC have been changed along with deep cleaning of the entire cabin and washrooms.

By accomplishing this maintenance check, carried out by PIA’s Engineering and Maintenance department, PIA has saved substantial amount of foreign exchange by utilizing the capacity of its own facility and the expertise of the engineers and technicians.

Lauding the efforts of PIA’s engineering department the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the airline Bernd Hildenbrand said that this C-Check proves that the airline would provide this service to aircrafts flying into Pakistan as well as to other countries.

PIA Engineering & Maintenance department has the capacity and capability to do all heavy maintenance checks which are regularly performed not only on airline’s own fleet of aircraft but the facility is also provided to some international customers.

Conclusion: I have confirmed that PIA do all Checks(A,B,C,D) on all his and other planes as well. However a major problem it is facing is that most customers do want to give money after the check is complete.

The above news was made public as A-320 is new to our fleet and we haven't done its Checks before.

PIA has been performing check c's of all its fleet. I would have been more surprised had PIA outsourced this to other engineering organizations considering the maintenance setup PIA has.

PIA has also been performing check Ds on its aircraft (complete overhaul) after 7-8 years. But a good profit making airline is supposed to sell its aircraft before a check D becomes due.

320 in PIA is new, so C check is for the first time. Everyone else has been sending their 320s abroad for C checks.

PIA should upgrade and install IFE's on all it's A320's or at least the ones used for international routes.

wont you need certified people to operate these planes,i mean you need engineers who are certified to do these check before operating these planes.how long have been PIA operating A-320.

PIA has certified staff. They do courses first then take the planes......

It's up to public of Pakistan to use the services properly as human don't be mad these aircraft are bought by our tax paid money it is our responsibility to keep it clean as we do our homes

PIA should put strict fines on miss use of service provided by on board air hostess to public if public cross lines of cleaniness

Agreed but for greater good this time we has to stand up for the change for good I hope sincerity and logic sense prevails these rich people can come and go but if we stand up for good every one has the piece of cake rather than 5 to 8 rich guys have all the cake

Conclusion: A very Good development and it would definitely save atleast a little bit money. I hope that PIA can start performing all of its fleets Check-C and hopefully Check-D if possible.

The reason i asked is because its costly every time to have to take your A/C out of the country every time you have to do a C check..
i was not sure of the heading,saying first ever.

These are Economy Class Planes with about 150 seats so no First Class. AC is centralized and No Screens.
