There are some tweets that the Pilot took off behind two Afghan fighter Jets after Afghan staff abandoned air traffic control without ATC and saved lives.

Last commerical flight to leave Kabul Airport

Does anyone have any confirmed news of this drawing act by PIA Pilot which flew 500 people to Islamabad?

It would be a miracle if you are some how able to fit 500 people on an A320, a narrow body.

I never quite understood why Pakistani airlines even use A320s on short haul, regional flights when regional jets can do a much better job and will be much more economical.

So I guess like a CRJ would do well lol

There is an audio circulating on social media of an airhostess who claims to be crew of the PIA a/c which is being discussed. She claims that the Captain of the a/c took off after the ATC gave them clearance and then when they were on the main runway, he took off after the 2 fighters.

I don't know whether the audio is authentic or not, but it gives the complete description of this incident.

A220 family much more economic. With it extended range variant. Pakistani airlines can even perform Gulf and some European operations quite comfortably.

Might want to go with Embarer to have commonality and share costs our Military aircraft logistical facilities as the Navy and probably the Air Force will operate embarers soon.

a business model that maximizes %of seats filled may allow PIA to fly to destinations in Pakistan as the first of two stops; something like Dubai-Quetta-Tashkent or Istanbul-Islamabad-Maldives like a European budget airlines. Connecting to more cities (inside and outside Pakistan) so passengers have more options, and more flights to their home cities in Pakistan. More connections allow more long haul airlines PIA passengers can connect with and reduce the requirement for PIA to fly unprofitable % of seats to long range destinations.

The main problem is the politicized, jaahil, paindu production in the unions. Who will seel their motherland for short term goals.

Insights from the captain.
B777 safely arrived for extradition flight.
Everything went smoothly until the afternoon when the plane was scheduled to depart.
The ATC at Kabul had to evacuate and relocate to a mobile unit, while the traffic was told to wait.
Things got weird, people running around. Captain contacted Pakistan.
Kabul shut down civilian traffic. Captain asked if he could do pushback and start engines at least. He was allowed.
He taxied to the runway but once again was denied takeoff. Pilot made a decision with his team that if things get rough he will take off unauthorized to save the lives of the people on board the aircraft.
Kabul ATC shutdown completely and everybody was left to their own. He saw military aircraft flying on their own, found a nice window and took off.
Due to good weather he used his skills to manage VFR flight amid the chaos around Kabul. Once past 15K feet was able to connect to regional Kabul ATC and they guided him to Pakistan airspace.
