I don't like their hats.Makes them look like colonial era cavalry soldiers.German army officer caps are much cooler. But epic pics btw.
Berets are cool i'm talking of the peaked cap.

Hey, these are the tradtion for cavalvry officers worldwide,
US army:
True however its a desert which means long range fights you can see your enemy from a km away hence a scope does make sense but I am really sure he can't be a sniper perhapes a markesman maybe . Anyway TAR does come with red dots but you can attach diff scopes on it don't you???
In the Indian Army the Armd. Corps./Cavalry officers do not wear 'felt hats', they tend more towards Berets. Its the Infantry types who wear the 'felt hats'. Apart from tradition, they are very practical being wide-brimmed and shady. And on a hot summers day a wet felt hat really helps to keep one cool. Of course the 'Brass Hats' observing the Exercise will not need to do that. Felt hats were popularised in the North African theater by Australian troops during WW 2 and used to be called ANZAC hats. I have an Aussie one made of Emu felt. I am sure that its better than the ones in the pictures, though not so snappy looking. But its not meant to be!
Peaked Caps are not so much in vogue now, being donned only on Parade, but even there Paras and Tank-men prefer to stick to their distinctive Maroon and Black Berets.
