The largest cross-city tunnel in Tehran, with a length of 10,252 meters, was officially inaugurated on Saturday. The Niyayesh tunnel is one of the world's 20 longest road tunnels. The construction of the tunnel, which connects Tehran's east and west, started in 2011, the Fars News Agency reported.

This is part of the Niyayesh-Sadr project. The other part of the project is a two level highway with a length of 6.4 km. That will be ready this year as well. The work on this project was/is going on 24/7-365 days a year.
