Philippines sentences 12 Chinese fishermen to jail

See the difference is we are not barbarians.

We aren't going to deprive families of their fathers/mothers and source of money and bread due to some political games, like the Philippines is doing.

Sure whatever so your imperialism is not barbarity? stealing our resources, inhumane treatment and racism heck your post alone is all the prove i need so please stop posting this stupidity and trying to make things rigth because its not working this not political games sir your countrymen violated our laws you must be punish simple as that evidence is beyond any reasonable doubt so there.

Let see what China do to retaliate? Probably nothing. Since the U.S. presence in Philippines the China suddenly stopped harass Philippines and yield. This show that, China fears the U.S. like Le Duan said during the Vietnam war, they really scare the U.S.

Contradict, the Cyber warriors on here boasting how they super power and scare nobody. In fact, they fear and now playing nice when the U.S. adopt tough policy toward China.

You know America has a "mutual defence treaty" with the Philippines, yet they did not stop China from seizing the Scarborough shoal in 2012? :P

The "mutual defence treaty" is the ultimate promise of protection in the world, yet America abandoned it when it came to China?

And who is holding the Xisha islands now?

The Philippines allowed U.S military presence after the Scarborough Shoal incident. The MDT with U.S. upgraded to allow U.S. military intervention just recent. Do the research before speak.

So why are we still holding the Scarborough shoal and the Xisha islands? :P

What is the MDT worth when they can't even stop the loss of territory from their allies?

Uh taking back a reef that is inside our countries boundaries that is not in West Philippine Sea/South China Sea? Hmm, I didn't know that China now owns the Philippines, I must have been sleeping under a rock for a thousand years! :cheesy:

The MDT acts as defensive stance. The U.S only use its military when Philippines is attacked. Scarborough shoal incident happened before the treaty. U.S. military were not presence.

If you think U.S is there just to show. I give you each Chinese here 1 mil if you can tell your government attack the Philippines.

Deep inside you scared the heck of U.S. you Chinese only talk tough.

You're a liar, America and the Philippines have had a "mutual defence treaty" since 1951.

Mutual Defense Treaty (U.S.–Philippines) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What you're talking about was the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement in 2014, not the mutual defence pact which was already in force since 1951.

Yet we still seized the Scarborough shoal from the Philippines in 2012. While they were covered by the mutual defence treaty with America. And guess what America did? Nothing.

And what happened to the Scarborough shoal after the "Enhanced Agreement" in 2014? Again, nothing. :P

Well attack our ships the MDT only covers if our ship civilian or military is attack then yes its covered so go ahead

Well attack our ships then

Why? We already took what we want, the Scarborough shoal.

We are happy with how it stands now. It's the Philippines who is unhappy.

If you want to attack us first though, be my guest. Just bear in mind, a "mutual defence treaty" does not apply if you are the one who attacked first. :D

Ah sir hate to brust your fantasy you have no control over a rock and thanks for calling it that and not island because you guys refer to it as an island which make no sense but again your chinese everything you say makes no sense at all going back we still fishing there plus Philippine cost guard is still patroling in the area so what victory are you talking about? your just annyong us well build a base but i doubt it its so near to the Philippines and with allied countries arround its doubtful china can make a move like that. And the rulling of ITCLOS is so close too.

I think nations around "south china sea" (East Vietnam Sea or West Philippines Sea) should treat to violated fishermen on the spirit of humanitarianism...

According @Cossack25A1 picture, the chinese fishermen have even infiltrated the Philippines' EEZ in Sulu Sea?

Why should the PRC intervene when its own citizens commit crimes abroad?

The fishermen clearly trespassed and are being punished.

US has nothing to with this topic, project your inferiority complex elsewhere.

dont off topic anymore guys :offpost:

sriosly Phil Navy, you'll need more patrol ships to patrol your EEZ. Indonesia are has already starting build its own KCR (fast missile boat) to patrol small outer islands from those fish robbers. (although hitting a tugboat with a missile kinda overkill actually :woot:)

The MDT only can be called into effect if Philippine military and personnel are fired upon by another nation's military. In the 2012 Shoal incident, there were no lethal military action taken by the Chinese side , nor were any Filipino military personnel fired upon. Rather, the Chinese side have sent fishing fleets to cordon the shoal. Smart tactic, i will say. I give them that.

I welcome your civil and educated participation in this thread. You are right, the Chinese fishermen , this time, were found fishing well within the maritime domain of the Philippines. And thus subject to the Laws of the Philippines. There is no debate.

These will prove indispensable for archipelagic nations. The Philippines would do well to follow Indonesia's lead -- in marine enforcement doctrine.
