Now that's what I call sheer twaddle! What containment? Having a few emaciated Chinese laborers out there helping in some nondescript construction projects doesn't translate to containment!

Containment means creating strategic alliances in order to check the expansion of a hostile power or ideology or to force it to negotiate peacefully by the show of combined military force. There are no military alliances with any country you mentioned against India. The so called 'string of pearls' is balderdash. It's plain fiction. Period!

VGP – ASEAN and India will strive to increase the two-way trade turnover to US$100 billion by 2015 from the current US$80 billion, said Indian Trade Minister Anand Sharma.

Mr. Sharma told delegates to the second ASEAN-India Business Fair opened Tuesday at Pragati Maidan International Expo Center in New Delhi.

India and ASEAN, which have already implemented free trade agreement in goods, are expected to conclude the negotiations for the free trade pact in services and investment this week.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the ASEAN-India dialogue partnership and the 10th anniversary of ASEAN-India Summit-level partnership, leaders of all the ten ASEAN countries and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are scheduled to attend the India-ASEAN Commemorative Summit on December 20-21.

Themed ‘ASEAN-India Partnership for Peace and Shared Prosperity’, the Summit is expected to result in the adoption of the ‘ASEAN-India Vision Statement 2020’, which would chart the future direction of ASEAN-India relations.

This would also include recommendations by the ASEAN-India Eminent Persons Group (AIEPG)./.

Compared to china's neigbhour none of India's neigbhour barring Pakistan can dare to open their mouth like Philippines has done.
