PH to pursue independent foreign policy

Apart from all the sensationalized articles made about Duterte, I see him as a quite pragmatic leader. I hope the general public/media stop judging him based on feelings over facts.

On the topic of US basing in the country, they(US) were already kicked out of the country in 1991 and diplomatic relations only took a slight blip then. Weapons will be sold as long as the PH has the money to back it up. Either that or they can always source defence materiel from other countries.
not as easy as you think. you don't buy WEAPONS from US your other choice is Russia. Russia nor U.S. will sell you current generation weapons. Japan, an ally of US still do not have latest weapons from U.S. Unlike Philippines, Japan has the money. What is Philippines military budget?

The Phil can get the F-15 Silent Eagle easily, maybe even the F-35 considering the close relationship between the Phil and U.S in the last 70 years. Other than the U.S, the Phil can buy from Israel or Europe. The Phil is not under arms embargo by anyone.

easily, not really. what is PH military budget, how many can they buy ? How effective are F15 nowadays. Don't forget, even if ph can buy it, will not be a the gold version of the F15.

The Philippines has a pretty small budget compared to other neighboring nations and its mainly because of this the military is usually priced out of American products anyway. Military arms sales are never "easy" and I never meant to portray it in that sense. There are dozens of other markets other than the US and Russia that the Philippines can deal with when it comes to defence. Looking at recent defense purchases, you'll see all the brand new stuff comes from countries like Korea,Israel & Indonesia. All the refurbished stuff however comes from the US.

Those jets are way out of our budget, and I haven't read any updates in regards to the F-15 Silent Eagle.

We would likely source the MRF in Europe as the JAS 39 is viewed as the Philippines' future MRF, though it procured would not be soon - most likely sometime in mid-2020s.
