Can you clarify the followingPTI should have waited till next election, ab bohat lanat parne wali hai in per election year mein lol This thing will cost more then Lahore and Multan metro bus combined. And unlike punjab, PTI is taking loan of Rs 50 billion from ADB.
Pehle 13 bad mein 37 aur ab 57, is se mein 50 loan hai hahahaha
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) Provincial Working Development Party (PWDP) on Tuesday approved the revised Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project with a 54 per cent increase in the total cost to Rs57 billion as against December 2016’s estimation of Rs37 billion.
Improper mapping of the project by the two stakeholders – Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Transport Department and Peshawar Development Authority – is said to be the reason behind the sudden cost overrun.
The project’s documents presented in the PWDP meeting, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, showed the cost of the project increased due to inclusion of Sunehri Masjid Alignment, institutional costs, resettlement costs, land requisition resettlement cost, utilities relocation, financing charges and fleet scraping charges.

Just WOW - The cost of this project will exceed the total combined cost of LAHORE + MULTAN METRO. And here we HAD IK Saying they will build a metro for 4 billion (This guy turned out to be real JOKE).
Lahore Metro = 27 Billion Multan Metro = 29 Billion Total : 27 + 29 = 56 Billion
AND ONE MORE GEM:
How Peshawar Metro Project is Different than Lahore Metro Project
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) which run KP government is all set to launch Peshawar Metro Project with the cost of Rs51.67 billion. According to the details, the chairman of PTI Imran Khan told in an interview that how Peshawar Metro is different from Lahore Metro project.
The PTI’s chairman while differentiating between two metro projects of Pakistan said that we are planning to make bus train parallel to railway track which will help traffic to distribute in two ways as all the traffic goes on one road due to which people face high traffic problem. He also criticized Lahore Metro project by Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) while saying that they have made metro bus project at the upper side which has completely destroy Islamabad as they are only making money.
The 60-years old politician also said that there is a huge difference between Metro in Ahmedabad in Hindustan and the Metro in Lahore as they have spent 5% more money than Ahmedabad Metro project but still Ahmedabad project is better than it. However pre-feasibility study for constructing a metro bus in Peshawar has been done as soon Imran Khan will gift Peshawars’ people a gift of beneficial metro project in Peshawar.

The Sustainable Bus Rapid Transit Corridor Project was recently given the green signal by the Provincial Development Working Party in Peshawar.
About Bus Rapid Transit Project
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is the equivalent of the Lahore and Islamabad/Rawalpindi Metro Bus service. Once completed, the BRT will be accessible to 17.54 per cent of Peshawar’s total population (about 500,000 people) daily. The bus routes are expected to be extended beyond the corridor, according to the project plan.
The project’s cost had increased by Rs. 20 billion and will now cost Rs. 57.23 billion. It was approved at a meeting held in Peshawar. Out of the total cost, Asian Development Bank will be paying Rs. 50 billion while the government will be paying Rs. 7.23 billion of the cost.
Project Details
The route is divided into these individual sections:
Additionally the bus route will feature:
- a 26 km long corridor
- 15 kilometer street level road
- 6 km elevated portion
- 5 km tunnel section
Total cost breakdown of the BRT is as follows:
- 32 stations
- 2 depots
- 150 bus stops
- 450 buses
- 68 km feeder bus routes
- a 6 story parking plaza
- 61 acre commercial plaza
Why The Budget Was Increased
- Infrastructure and depots: Rs. 39.27 billion
- Utility relocation: Rs. 4.2 billion
- Fleet scrapping and environmental mitigation: Rs. 1.11 billion
- Fleet procurement: Rs. 7.78 billion
There were a number of reasons why the total cost of the project was increased by Rs. 20 billion. This 54% increase in the total cost was due to:
One end of the bus route is at Chamkani while the other end, or the last bus stop is Cancer Hospital at Jamrud Road. Two different types of buses will be used, a 9 metre bus and a 12 metre bus. The 9 metre bus will be used on smaller roads such as Kohat Road, Bara Road and in areas near Hayatabad.
- International bidding
- Inclusion of Sunehri Masjid alignment
- Inclusion of institutional costs
- Resettlement costs
- Land acquisition
- Resettlement plan
- Utilities relocation
- Financing charges
- Fleet scrapping
12 Month Duration
The Peshawar Rapid Transit Project will be sent to the Central Development Working Party for approval first.
Project duration is going to be 12 months with the aim to provide the users a comfortable, well-designed

Lahore
LAHORE - The Metro Bus Service, launched at a cost of Rs30 billion for a 27-kilometre route in the provincial metropolis, is causing a daily loss of Rs5 million, it has been learnt. While a passenger pays Rs20 for one-way travel, the government has to pay a subsidy of Rs40. Informed sources say the service has eaten up more than Rs1.5 billion of public money since its inauguration in February 2013.The performance and utility of Lahore Metro Bus Service has a direct bearing on the question that if this mega project should be replicated in Rawalpindi, as planned by the government. The government is giving such a huge subsidy on a single route and that too at a time when it is planning to privatise more than two dozen key state enterprises which are running in loss, arguing that the resources being spent to keep them afloat could be used on other important public projects. On the positive side of the things, the MBS daily facilitates almost 140,000 commuters from Gajju Matta to Shahdrah area during the 5-day week, as per officials of the Metro Bus Authority. There are around 50 routes in Lahore with many even without any public transport facility.Millions of commuters travel in the City daily at Chingchi rickshaws, worn out vans and outdated buses and pay from Rs15 to Rs35 fare even at routes much smaller than that of metro bus. If a commuter travels on some other bus of van from Gajju Matta to Shahdrah, he/she will have to pay around Rs60.As for the figures are concerned, the provincial government is generating Rs2.8 million in revenue from fare collection as compared with per day expenditure of around Rs8 million. Annual income from the metro bus track is around Rs912.5 million. The Punjab government in budget 2013-14 had allocated Rs2 billion for Metro Bus subsidy after clear refusal of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to increase the fare. The government had outsourced the all operational, maintenance, security and other expenditures to around 12 companies after the start of the service.Critics question spending so much money on travellers of a particular route at the expense of the rest of the population of province. And the same argument is presented against the launch of similar project in Rawalpindi.A transport department official said the subsidy being paid at this one route was sufficient to purchase 500 busses and even Lahore desperately needs around 2,000 buses to meet the needs of the daily commuters as presently only around 300 buses are operating in the city under the umbrella of the Lahore Transport Company (LTC).Severe shortage of public transport is also a problem in other big cities of Punjab like Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.Metro bus Service was launched at a cost of Rs30 billion (although many say it’s understatement). In the service, 64 metro buses, with a capacity three times that of ordinary buses, run along 27km track. At the time of inauguration, a total of 45 buses had been imported from Turkey but the government added 19 buses in September last year. The buses stop at 27 stations that cover the entire route. When the service was launched, it was claimed that even those with personal cars will prefer to avail this facility but one can see dozens of passengers standing at Ferozpur Road beneath the metro track who prefer to choose ordinary vans and mazdas to reach at their destination instead of the metro bus.

In any case this proves that there was hardly any corruption by N league in metro projects. You get what you pay for.
