I agree with RazPak. Pakistani gulf sounds a lot sexier than anyone of those two options.
In all honesty, Persian gulf is what it's been called since ancient times, and it should continue to remain so.
Also, look at the map, the position of Iran is above the gulf states, that alone makes the inlet of water below Iran called Iran's gulf, or in this case Persians gulf.
Actually Historically it was called "Sea of the Earth God" Until 3000BC then "The the sea of the great Sunshine" until 2000BC then "The sea of the Kuldan land" until about 1000BC then "The sea of the south" Until 250BC. Ashurians called it "The bitter sea". Babylonians called it "The lower sea". It is only Darius that called it "Persia's sea" when he traveled from India to Persia by his ships but he did not know of the Arabian side.
Romans called it the "Arabain Gulf" and have used that name in their writings. In the first century AD Pliny the younger said:"Kharkas lay in the extreme edge of the Arabian Gulf where the most pointy part of Happy Arabia (Southern Arabia) begins".
Arabs have called it "The Bahrain Gulf" and later on "The Arabain Gulf" During the Abassyed times it was called "The Iraqi Gulf" until it was replaced later on by "The Arabian Gulf" again.
Ottomans called it "Basrah's Gulf".
THIS HERE IS REAL HISTORY ^^
#46 it wasn't always called Persian Gulf that is another Persian propaganda/lie.
Arabs only barking loud because of their powerful master.
Because it is up?? Are you serious?? Besides universe has no up or down. And throughout history the map of the world was reversed so in that argument Arabia was above Iran. And no read what I wrote in #46 it wasn't always called Persian Gulf that is another Persian propaganda/lie.
Arabs like to make everything Arabian , Ahvaz is a Persian nameBecause you don't just come and cram your name in something that it isn't yours just like that. Hell even the Iranian side has the Arabic "Ahwaz" bordering it making it even more Arab than it is Iranian.
This is historical facts vs Persian manipulation.
The word Ahvaz is a Persianized form of the local Ahwaz, which in turn itself is derived from a Persian word. The Dehkhoda Dictionary specifically defines the Market of the Khuzis", where "Suq" is Persian word "chahar-suy/sugh" for market,[citation needed] and "Ahvaz" is a plural (اسم جمع of the form "af'āl" (افعال of the word "Huz", or more precisely, the root "ha wa za" ( َحَـوَز ), which itself comes from the Persian Huz, from Achaemenid inscriptions from where the term first appears. Thus, which refers to the non-Arabic original inhabitants of Khūzestān. The word Houz or khouzh are the same as it means Raw sugar usually produced locally from sugar cane field north of ahwaz up to shoush where the people of Khouzistan were known for this raw sugar produce since Elamite period. The addition of A in many old Persian names were a clear indication of its origin like Hurmazd or Ahuramazda. The language of Khouzi is non-arabic and is one of the oldest dialect still being used in and around Ahwaz.
The name of the region appears in medieval Syriac sources as ܒܝܬ ܗܘܙܝܐ Beṯ Huzáyé, literally meaning "land of the Huzis".[2]
The term "Huz", meanwhile, is the Old Persian rendition of Suz (Susa-Susiana), the native Elamite name of the region. Old Persian commonly changed the initial "s" in a foreign word into an "h," most famously, in its rendition of the name the river and the people Sindh/Sindhi into Hind/Hindi, which was then Hellenized into Indus, whence India.[citation needed]

apart from the royal families, arent there many Iranian-origin Arabic speaking citizens in the gulf?
for example Kuwait and Bahrain....i'm not 100% knowledgable on this petty issue so don't take my word for it.
why do you people have so much hatred for eachother? Leave history in the dusty history books, live your lives and move on. Muslims shouldnt be fighting eachother over the name of a body of water.. For God's sakes.
