Persian as a mandatory subject in schools?

why not both

Step by step Bro, we need to unite people inside Pakistan First. Then start teaching what could help to put Pakistan on the right track of development (high tech etc). And only then yes Farsi or Persian language. But I don’t mean that we don’t need to learn Persian. We need it to understand Iranian people and Iran. But due to our situation we need to prioritize.
Of course I could be wrong.

Farsi or Persian was the lingua franca of the Mughul Court and Urdu is heavily influenced by Farsi. It would be very easy for Pakistanis to adopt Farsi as Afghan Dari is also Farsi based. It would be very beneficial for Pakistanis is terms of unified national identity and social, economic and cultural integration with Iran and Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

There are too many Pakistani regional languages that need to be taught first as optional subjects.
History is history, What future benefit would Pakistani's get by learning Persian?
For individuals, not much in the short term. But for the nation, a whole lot. It can be a cultural factor sticking the country together. People need a cultural heritage that can make them proud to be Pakistanis. Islam is not enough: after all, Turks, Arabs are also Muslims. It's in the this way that people start to think themselves first as Pakistanis, rather than Turks, Arabs, or Punjabis, Pathans, Balochis etc. It can be powerful glue to overcome the divisiveness.

The point is, Persian is not just the language of Iran. Historically much of its cultural heritage has nothing to do with Iran. Its called 'Persian' only because the West calls it so.

Not to disrespect those regional languages, but none of them carries the cultural weight of Persian. Don't underestimate the power of learning a classical language in the process of nation-building. The only other language that might be as important as Persian in South Asian history is Sanskrit. Not even Hindi carries the same cultural weight.

The lingua franca of course should be Urdu. You talk to people in other parts of the country by speaking in Urdu.

One does not learn a language well without leaning its classical literature. I've noticed that many Pakistanis speak a kind of ad hoc Urdu-English mix. If the Iranians can integrate modern vocabulary in their language, why can't Pakistanis do the same to Urdu?

then why not put emphasis on Urdu as a language for Nation building ?

Exactly. But then if you need to learn some classical Urdu literature, you need to understand Persian.
It's for this reason why people in the West still learn Latin. Latin is not the language of any country any more (well, save Vatican), but to read any Western literature, you need to at least have some understanding of Latin. The 'English' you learn is in fact heavily Latinized.
Same for Urdu.

ok. But what could be the value to add more stress on our students when you know the quality of our education system and especially its failure ?

No latin is learned by less and less student (I’m talking about France). Many schools stopped to offer this option.

i have learned french without learning Latin....many of friend are in scientific jobs without knowing even one word of Latin.
Oh yes if you want to become Christian priest then maybe you will learn Latin. But more and more churches are empty and are closed.

Indeed. The way some Pakistanis pander themselves to Turkey is sickening.

But most schools still offer Latin. And frankly, France does not have the same identity dilemma as Pakistan does: after all, French itself is vulgarized modern Latin.

Its a mixed bag I think 40 years of Arab-Jihadi remnants from the Soviet Afghan war is going its way the Turks are secular in their orientation Erdogan is a serious gambler with his Islamist views but his nation is on right course he will be gone Turks are smart people but from Arabism to Turkism could benefit the average Pakistani will learn the "recipe for success" from Turks mix in from help from "iron bro China"
