World wide there is a population of around 2 billion muslims representing more than fifty muslim countries and as minority in many other countries. It is an irony that there is no representation for muslims in security council. There are only two countries worth their salt to represent muslim interests in security council viz Pakistan and Turkey. But since Pakistan has always tilted balance of power in Asia and has always stood up for muslim interests from Bosnia to Brunie. It rightfully deserves permanent seat at security council with full veto power. But since India is also aspiring to get permanent seat at security council despite not adhering to the Security council resolutions,Pakistan felt the need to oppose the move but coordianting with like minded countries.Pakistan has been contributing highest number of troops for UN peace keeping.Should Pakistan change it's policy and garner the support of muslim countries and other countries willing to support Pakistan whenever there would be debate on increasing the number of permanent seats at security council ?
Since Arabic is one of the official UN languages, an Arab nation should definitely be part of the Council. The nation with the best economy, the best influence and the most modern military- Saudi Arabia.
Lets be real. I don't think Muslim nations especially the Arab ones are going to choose Pakistan as their representative.
Yes a permanent seat of a Muslim nation should be there ...
KSA is a good option ,, since it have influence over all islamic world
other options includes Turkey , Indonesia and Pakistan
They will never let any Muslim nation get a permanent UN Security Council seat because UN is run by USA which in turn is run by rich Israelis.
Arab Countries deserve Veto power too.Muslim Countries/ Arab countries already has a fixed UN Security council seat. It is just that, that seat does not belong to a single country, but is rotated among different Arab/Muslim countries on 2 year basis.
You people should update your G.K..
Now that must be a joke.
No.. It is the same principle on which India is fighting CTBT- that the world is divided into nuclear have and have nots. These 5 countries don't have a divine right to rule. Either abandon SC or make it more equitable. The Arab world will be happier if KSA is a permanent member.
But OIC is not effective at the moment.OIC is a better choice
New Recruit
if ksa had no oil then people like masomnia ([whatever his name is] would be hunting lizards in the deserts. even now. They just got lucky u know? JK.-
KSA doesnt have that kind of great human rights record.
Absolute monarchy, religious intolerance, if KSA was not ally of USA, I definitely can say some sanctions or resolution in UN will be there.
Representation in UN is not based on religion.World wide there is a population of around 2 billion muslims representing more than fifty muslim countries and as minority in many other countries.
