India entered the Afghanistan fray more out of spite for Pakistan and less for love of the Afghans. Eighteen years since 9/11, Indian cooperation with the Afghan Unity Government faces impending dangers, which may imperil Indian investments in the war-ravaged country. Most of the threat comes from Indian miscalculation of the risks. India has a poor track record of meddling in the affairs of other countries. In 1987 it sent its armed forces to Sri Lanka, which resulted in a major disaster and even caused a Tamil suicide bomber to assassinate the Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. After the US-led NATO forces invaded Afghanistan following 9/11, India saw a grand opportunity to invest in Afghanistan to gain brownie points with the US but more to gain a foothold so that its secret agency RAW could establish bases to destabilize Pakistan.

Indian investments in the reconstruction of Afghanistan have been manifold but due to the intransigencies of its intelligence agency, RAW, numerous catastrophes face Indian defence planners. On October 18, 2018, Kandahar’s governor Zalmay Wesa, the powerful provincial police Chief Abdul Razik and the province’s intelligence chief Abdul Mohmin were killed when their own guards opened fire on them at a security conference. Asian Tribune of October 26, 2018, in its Op-Ed titled ‘RAW behind killing of NDS/CIA operatives in Kandahar’ lifted the shroud of secrecy from the identity of the main culprits. Quoting reports, the Online Daily revealed that an intelligence setup was established inside the Governor House Kandahar to maintain optimum secrecy and deception. It disclosed that the intelligence setup inside the Governor House was the joint venture of the Afghan intelligence agency, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), India’s infamous spy organization RAW and the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The Daily further informs that two companies of Black Water (CIA) XEE and XZEE were also imparting training to the Afghan youth, Indian nationals, ETM and IMU militants for launching them to Pakistan. The cover name of the clandestine intelligence and terrorist setup which was working inside Kandahar’s Governor House involving various cover officers and officials of RAW was “888 Brigade”. Naming reliable sources, the Daily asserts that the ‘888 Brigade’ remained involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan. It was running a setup at the hill top of Splanji near Quetta which was later destroyed by law enforcement agencies of Pakistan. The informed daily reveals that the ‘888 Brigade’ even tried to establish a setup in Kohat which was successfully wiped out by Pakistani security forces as well.

India has a poor track record of meddling in the affairs of other countries. In 1987 it sent its armed forces to Sri Lanka, which resulted in a major disaster and even caused a Tamil suicide bomber to assassinate the Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. After the US-led NATO forces invaded Afghanistan following 9/11, India saw a grand opportunity to invest in Afghanistan to gain brownie points with the US but more to gain a foothold so that its secret agency RAW could establish bases to destabilize Pakistan

Exploiting numerous terrorist organizations, General Raziq carried out terrorist acts inside Pakistan such as attacks on Lawyers in Quetta, on Police Training Center Quetta, on the Hazara Community in Quetta, on APS Peshawar and numerous others.

General Abdul Raziq was not only involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan but was also disreputable for brutal and unlawful killing of innocent Afghanis. He was working as a mercenary for forces inimical to Afghanistan. According to reports he was running his own jails and torture centers to punish his political opponents and the Afghan Taliban. He also supervised police activities in Kandahar province and covertly visited India to get briefing from RAW and acquire sophisticated equipment, which was provided to RAW by the Israeli secret service Mossad.

Asian Tribune discloses that apparently differences erupted between Kandahar-based RAW diplomat Jagdev Krishna and General Abdul Raziq regarding their share of percentage of kickbacks from the purchase deal of night vision devices, telescope fitted snipers and chemical agents from Israeli Intelligence agency, Mossad. The RAW agent finally settled the dispute by cultivating a proxy in the inner security cordon of Governor House – the front organization of NDS, which resulted in the massive killing of NDS-CIA high-value personnel.

On November 23, 2018, a deadly suicide attack was planned to wreak havoc in the Chinese Consulate at Karachi. The perpetrators of the heinous act were killed before they could execute their mission. Its mastermind, Aslam Achu, who was under treatment in India, planned the gruesome assault. On Christmas eve, Aslam Achu, a leader of proscribed Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA) was killed in Afghanistan along with other 3 commanders and 4 guards. Dr. Jumma Khan Marri, the founder of overseas Balochis, in a social media interview has exposed Indian intelligence agency RAW for placing Aslam Achu in Kandahar rather than a safe place like India. He claims that India is paying Baloch insurgents to foment insurrection in Baluchistan.

Indian senior politicians as well as defence analysts are now lamenting that they backed the wrong horse in Afghanistan. They claim that the Taliban with the support of Russia, China, Pakistan and Iran are gaining supremacy. Since the Indians were with the northern alliance and sponsored Karzai and later Ashraf Ghani, now their investments in Afghanistan will come to naught if the Taliban end up in control of Kabul.

INDIA had excellent relations with Afghanistan since the time King Zahir Shah was at the helm, and later had close relations with Afghan governments installed after Saur revolution supported by the Soviet Union. However, India lost its clout during Afghan jihad as well as during Taliban era. After 9/11 events, India entered into strategic partnership with the United States that created a unique opportunity for India to reassert its historical and traditional influence in Afghanistan. Since then, Indian RAW has been using Afghan soil and proxies for terror attacks in Pakistan. India convinced the Kabul regime that ‘good terrorists’ (TTP elements) would prove an asset. But they turned their back on RAW and NDS and many of them joined ISIS. However, recent developments in Afghanistan and in the region as well as Trump’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan indicate that India runs risk of losing all of its investment in country.
All major regional powers, except India, have been trying to carve a niche for themselves in the future of Afghanistan. For instance, Russia took the diplomatic initiative to build a regional consensus through organizing major regional conferences on Afghanistan in Russia and allied countries in Central Asia. The Taliban approved of Moscow’s initiative and attended the conferences. Similarly, China has stepped up its engagement in Afghanistan and is a countervailing force to India. Aside from its unique role in the Afghan peace process through its strategic partnership with Pakistan and because of its improved ties with the Taliban, China has established for the first time bilateral security cooperation with Kabul. The Chinese military has been assisting its Afghan counterparts in anti-terrorism operations and capacity building for the Afghan forces, which means obscuring any chance for India to establish its foothold in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the latest announcement of Beijing’s decision to build a military base in the strategic Wakhan corridor bordering China, Tajikistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir is considered a bold move and an unprecedented decision by the Chinese leadership to intervene militarily in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, India’s efforts to open a transit corridor to Afghanistan and Central Asia through Iran’s Chabahar port bypassing Pakistan had for a while come to a standstill because of the renewed US sanctions on Iran. This is by far the biggest setback in India’s strategic investment in the context of regional competition for access to tremendous energy resources in Central Asia. Furthermore, the US decision to withdraw its 50 per cent forces from Afghanistan and initiation of direct talks with the Taliban has dampened India’s hopes. Last but not the least, Pakistan is playing a key role in bringing the Taliban to the negotiations table.
Afghan National Unity Government has decided to send a delegation to participate in the next round of Afghan peace talks. However, the Taliban refused to meet Afghan Government delegation in January’s scheduled round of talks in Jeddah. Taliban delegation members did not meet Afghan delegation in the First Round of Talks held in the UAE. Taliban representatives maintain that the issue being discussed in the talks relate directly to the US; hence they will not meet Afghan NUG delegation. Taliban are negotiating a deal with the US from the position of strength. Through their refusal to include Afghan Government delegation for talks they are also undermining the status of the Afghan Government. Pakistan has actively demonstrated its diplomatic outreach for making the process a success. Pakistan facilitated first round of negotiations; and in the aftermath, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister visited Afghanistan, Iran, China and Russia taking important regional players into confidence about the progress.
India appears to have lost ground in Balochistan as Baloch dissidents feel that India has betrayed them. In November 2018, the Sindh Police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) booked Harbiyar Marri, a fugitive leader of the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and his 12 aides for attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi. Last week, mastermind of attack on Chinese Consulate, Aslam Achchu was killed in Kandahar while six of his companions were injured. It is not known yet as to who killed him, but Dr Juma Khan Marri dissident-turned patriot has raised quite a few questions. For one, why RAW sent Aslam Achchu to Afghanistan, asking whether it was a conspiracy or RAW wanted to get rid of him so that he may not divulge information about RAW’s machinations and involvement in vile acts. Dr Juma observed that every intelligence agency protected its assets, then why RAW sent Achchu to Afghanistan.
Dr Juma Marri said that Modi had announced support to Baloch separatists but later withdrew his support because he felt that all money will go down the drain, as their efforts were frustrated by Pakistan’s LEAs. Earlier, India had reportedly given one million dollar to Harbyiar Marri, Dr Juma asked whether he shared that money with his associates, and secondly why he was quiet on Aslam Achchu’s assassination who was his top-ranking BLA commander. Aslam Achchu was killed along with his companion in an attack on his residence in Kandahar when a meeting of terrorists was underway, said sources privy to the matter. The four injured terrorists were moved to Kandhar’s medical facility, but Aslam Achchu along with his companions succumbed to his injuries. It may be recalled that, Aslam alias Achchu was wanted in many heinous crimes including attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi; he was carrying out terror activities in Pakistan from Afghan soil.

I guess India was banking on US to be in Afghanistan forever, but will now have to look for alternatives. Perhaps work with Iran and Russia.

Too late for that fantasy. You cannot switch sides because this isn't a title on your gaming console.

India has no options in Afghanistan. Just like Kurds have no options. Deal with the blowback and keep building libraries.

The only one living in fantasyland is people like yourself, the delusional. The only side India was ever on was its own. Regardless of India's relations with US, it still has good relations with Iran and Russia, who's only goal in Afghanistan is to eject the US.

This is not the 1990s, India has options.

Work with Iran and Russia and whom in Afghanistan?
Neither Russia nor Iran have a significant setup or control in Afghanistan, and their dealing with Taliban is through or facilitated through Pakistan.

So here's the upcoming story.
US lifts off slowly, and indians start getting massacred on the streets because of their crimes against the Taliban by supporting NDS and Americans.

"Asian Tribune discloses that apparently differences erupted between Kandahar-based RAW diplomat Jagdev Krishna and General Abdul Raziq regarding their share of percentage of kickbacks from the purchase deal of night vision devices, telescope fitted snipers and chemical agents from Israeli Intelligence agency, Mossad. The RAW agent finally settled the dispute by cultivating a proxy in the inner security cordon of Governor House – the front organization of NDS, which resulted in the massive killing of NDS-CIA high-value personnel."

Corrupt to the core, even taking kick backs for purchasing intelligence stuff from another intelligence agency.
them indians...

Yes India was an Afghanistan primarily to destabilize Pakistan. Now that the cover is blown , they are hiding faces, killing people who worked for India in order to erase any evidence left. I think we need to expose India more in the international arena as a terrorist state.

Keep dreaming. Iran, Russia, Pakistan and China are all on the same page regarding Afghanistan. India has always been a US lackey. Don't even mention Russia and Iran LOL The Americans knew the score once Russian, Iranian, Pakistani and Chinese intelligence operatives were meeting and cooperating.

The reason why the US approached Pakistan and backstabbed India is because you have been influencing the failed US policy in Afghanistan. The Indians were exploiting US presence for their own anti-Pakistan agenda. After 17 years the Yanks showed you a middle finger and threw you under the bus. Deal with it and stop pretending that Russia and Iran are on your side in Afghanistan. You are all alone and we are coming for you. Read the headlines in your own newspapers. Ghazwa-e-Hind is coming LOL

Now get back to building libraries...

I think india is moving smartly . they know that future in Afghanistan is bleak and they have done enough damage to Pakistan (the main purpose they were in Afg for) So now its time to pack up and go.Half of their network was blown to pieces by ISI and remaining they are clearing their traces by killing their reliable assets such General Razik & BLA's head Achhu .this is called wrap up.They do understand the consequences of after US Afg so its better to leave it before in house killing starts.
