Pepsi And Coca Cola Pouring $1.4 Billion In Pakistan

Let them pour money after this money come in Pakistan impose heavy tax on them no one will buy their product and money inflow will benefit us for timebeing and for short term after which due to high taxes they will move out of Pakistan

The problem with this approach is:

  1. When they invest money in Pakistan part of that money will be used to lobby politicians to not change the rules on them. So once you let them in it's hard to make them go away.
  2. If you do manage to tax them heavily despite the corrupting influence of their money you will find that when they go away they will sell all their assets and repatriate the dollars they originally invested so you end up losing the money anyway.
  3. It doesn't send a good message to other foreign investors. Shows them that the government is fickle and will change the rules on you.

COKE and PEPSI and other Fizzy, Soda drinks are a recipe for bad health, cancer causing Aspartame, Osteoporosis, bone and teeth decay, digestive system decay, Diabetes...and dozens more alarming diseases....should be banned here in Pakistan.

Surprised by Asad Umar talking about the investment and IK meeting the delegation...the reason they are shifting their business to third world countries as health awareness in first world countries are causing them to move to newer markets....Govt. need to throw them out.

Also they are causing huge ground water depletion....this is big threat to a country which is water stressed like Pakistan...sad and shameful situation.

In case anyone doesn't get it this infographic is full of shit. It may be tongue in cheek. I mean these drinks aren't good for your health but this infographic claims artificial sweetners (aspartame) cause diabetes and that tap water is bad for your health!

. . .
Tap water in Pakistan is not good for one's health, that part is indeed true!

It's not tap water. As the supreme court case shows it's ground water and they no doubt filter it and boil it as part of the process of making the drinks. They also put preservatives in them. Otherwise the stuff wouldn't have the shelf life it does.

Also the infographic claims chlorine in water is bad for you. Chlorine kills bacteria. That's why it's added to the water. It's just bullshit i.e. truth and half-truths mixed together.

But, as I said before, drinking soda or not is a voluntary choice. What is the problem here?

Like I said that infographic is inaccurate. That is the only problem here. It's straight out factually incorrect.

That may be true, but those who believe it do have a choice to make in not drinking soda. And those who like it still will make their own choice, graphic or no graphic. No problem!

a) sodas are bad. I'm not arguing about this. the sugar content alone is alarming.

b) saying sodas are bad with incorrect facts is also bad.

c) half truths are wrong. chlorine in water is not bad for you. aspartame is used as artificial sweetener by diabetics on a day to day basis. it is not the cause of diabetes like the graphic claims.

the graphic is misleading. there are better sources of information out there.

Which may all be good and true, but personal choice makes them all not really important.

I stopped bringing this shite in my house years ago. None of my kids are brought up knowing how this crap taste. Pakistanis needs to understand the meaning of healthy eating and dietry habits. It is NOT fashionable to drink the black soda anymore!

. .
Drinking soda is a voluntary choice. Don't like it? Don't drink it. Simple!
True.

Views expressed on PDF are not a true reflection of consumption levels of fizzy drinks in Pakistan. People buy and consume these drinks every day (much of Pakistan).

Those who think that juices and other drinks of color are absolutely safe - need a serious wake up call. Even Tea is not good for your health due to caffeine levels.
