We need HongKong as a bridge between West and China during cold war. More importantly, unlike Iran, we have Taiwan issue. The major concern Chairman Mao had is Taiwan independence.

Chairman Mao not only left HongKong as it is, but also keep Matsu Islands and Kinmen untouched intentionally. Matsu Islands and Kinmen are very close to mainland China but still managed by Taiwan right now.

India's GOA is different.

Today we can still fight with Taiwan and Taiwan does NOT dare to declare independence. Thanks for Chairman Mao's wisdom.

We fight with United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Turkey, Australia, Philippines, New Zealand, Thailand, Ethiopia, Greece, France, Colombia, Belgium, South Africa, Netherlands, Luxembourg all together. 5 million casualties in total in this war.

No matter how much they spent, they can't cross 38th parallel north.

We should thank Peng Duhai for his great leadership during the Korean War. He was a great hero, and what happened to him was a tragedy. The Chinese fought bravely in this war and the people of China should never forget the soldiers. Remember there sacrifice.

Agree.

We never forgot and will not. Chinese are historians culturally. It's not only Peng Dehuai's personal tragedy, it's our nation's tragedy. High price paid and lessons learnt.
