People of #Karachi want peace, even the ones living in Azizabad. - DG Rangers
Director General Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Major General Bilal Akbar Thursday claimed the crime-torn coastal metropolis had finally started breaking free from the shackles of ‘fear’, Samaa reported.
“The people are with us. They want peace. Even those living in Azizabad want law & order to prevail,” Akbar said during an exclusive on-the-road interview to Samaa TV’s senior anchorperson Nadeem Malik while standing in front of Muttahida Qaumi Movement headquarters ‘Nine Zero.’
Rangers’ chief took Mr Malik on a stormy spin around the city and surprised the people in various ‘sensitive’ areas --amid tight security.
In Azizabad, Maj-Gen Akbar, Mr Malik, and other senior officials walked up to MQM leader Altaf Hussain’s residence where they were welcomed warmly by the ‘Nine Zero’ staff. Making the most of the occasion, Maj-Gen Akbar shook hands with the MQM workers guarding the main entrance of the building.
To a question, the he said that paramilitary troops were cracking down only on the criminal elements in Karachi.
“Gone are the days of fear and the terror. Did you feel any while walking around the MQM main office? Things are changing now," said he adding," All the Karachiites are our brothers. The good ones need not to worry about anything, however, the bad ones will not be spared, no matter what.
"The top security men also visited Lyari, Manghopir, Kati Pahari, SITE, etc.
To know as to what was his take on the other burning questions regarding Karachi, tune in to Samaa TV at 08:00 PM and watch ‘Nadeem Malik Live.’
