The list clearly contradicts an earlier Pentagon statement that Gen Sharif was visiting Washington “of his own volition” and that the Pentagon was arranging his meetings on his request.
Washington welcomes dozens of military chiefs every week and most of them return home without meeting the vice president or the secretary of state.
What rubbish. First, it was Indian media idiotically saying Gen. Sharif came to US uninvited. Now it's the Pakistani media turn to look like idiots here. Gen. Sharif could've well requested the meeting and US accommodated him.
Why?
Because he's Gen. Sharif. Chief of Army Staff for Pakistan, a country that is a non-NATO ally of US in the war against terrorism, guardian of peace in Afghanistan. Of course all top people in US govt will see him.
I doubt the COAS of the Burundi army would get a similar reception.
