Pentagon calls remarks on Senkakus' sovereignty an 'error'

1943—Cairo Declaration Strips Japan of Pacific Islands Seized or Occupied Since First World War

While the Cairo Declaration stated the “purpose” of the signatories that “all the territories Japan has stolen from the Chinese, such as Manchuria, Formosa, and the Pescadores, shall be restored to the Republic of China,”

There was no mention of returning senkaku to china ,since it was perceived that senkaku was part of japan before ww1.

The territory of Japan is limited to the four islands, and the others do not need to be explained separately.

. . .
It's not old and it's not a dream.

Another example of when its reasonable for readers to assume that the opposite of what Pro-CCP poster says is likely to be true.

Maybe its *hint hint* Okinawa will declare independence and backed by China *hint hint*. Well, PRC can't even get Taiwan so the PRC knocking off Okinawa from Japan seems even less feasibile.

Keep dreaming.

Wait and see!

I guess you mean 1945—Potsdam Declaration that Limits Japanese Sovereignty .It mentions four major islands of Japan but also included “such minor islands as we determine" ;territory of japan is limited to 4 "major" islands.” Senkaku is a minor island. and the cairo declaration precedes it.

That result is null. Why keep chasing that old dream?

:-)
This is the foundation of the founding of the United Nations. As long as the United Nations exists, Japan will always be a defeated country. Japan's territory will always require the consent of China, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Old long history alone is not enough to keep relations bad. Germany and France are the closest of countries right now that form the core of the EU. There is no overestimating the number of French and Germans that died from fighting each other.. far more than the exchange of killing between Japanese and Korean.

of course but too many people fighting over limited resources plays a significant factor in conflicts. That is what my metaphor was about.

European nations, like Spain, France and Germany expanded all over the world (ie ancestry of 46 million US citizens is from Germany, largest group). They used "Colonies" and wars of expansion conquest. They took the "New World". More for them and those in Europe.

In school terms: they were tough kids sharing a locker. They didn't like that so they went and beat up a bunch of nerds and little kids in order to take the lockers and lunches from those kids.
