PDF Doctors- need urgent guidance-

Hi

Last week my cousin had a premature baby in 32-33 weeks-
its been almost 4 days and the doctors now have diagnosed him with Patent Ductus Arteriosus-
which means his blood vessels the Ductus Arteriosus is not naturally closing which should have been closed by now as is common in new born babies-

The doctors have recommended Surgery-
I want to know what good hospitals we have in Pakistan- Lahore or any where else-
which hospital has most qualified doctors to perform such surgery-
what are the chances?-

Kindly all of you help me out-

Actuall most cases of ductus closes spontaneously before 3 months . also the closure rate after administration of ibuprofen ( which closes ductus ) is around 90%. have you people exhausted all these option. if spontaneous closure does not occur then the baby need Sx. In the meantime Antibiotics and diuretics are needed.

As far as i know- the doctors are putting him on some medication for a week or some days depending on his condition they will perform surgery-

bro,PDA,,if asymptomatic is not operated on immidiately and is monitored,if symptoms show then surgery(or/and other interventions) are done.there is some new mesh method as well.
but here the child is premature as well,lung maturity takes around 34 weeks,,,so I dont know about surgery(though the docs may have anticipated premature delivery and added steroids),,,I guess senior guys can help u more.

7 month baby has chances of survival, but 8th month baby usually faces alot of problems..

My cousin's twins were born in the 8th month and are doing fine by god's grace.
