The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants its Indian counterpart (BCCI) to pay approximately $ 70 million as compensation for not playing two “home” bilateral series.

The PCB, which has completed its consultation process and finalised its compensation claim against the BCCI, is expected to file its claim with the disputes resolution committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a few days.

“Our case is that the BCCI signed an MoU with us in 2014 to play six bilateral series, starting with our home series, which they have not done as yet. Secondly they have avoided playing us in bilateral series since 2008 although they have no issues playing against us in ICC events,” PCB chairman Najam Sethi said.

Sethi said that under the MoU, the six bilateral series were to be played between 2015 and 2023 with Pakistan hosting home series at the start.

He pointed out that India claimed it had not got permission from its government to play with Pakistan in bilateral series but had played them in the ICC events.

“We even offered to host our home series against them at neutral venue(s) to be mutually agreed by both of us. In 2016, we even offered to host a limited overs series in Sri Lanka,” said Sethi.

The PCB chief said the compensation claim would be filed soon as all preparations and consultations had been completed with a law firm in the United Kingdom.

Sethi said Pakistan never had any problems playing bilateral matches with India at neutral venues but it was the BCCI which had caused huge financial losses to Pakistan.

He noted that Pakistan had already lost a lot of revenue due to international teams refusing to play in Pakistan since 2009 when terrorist attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team bus.

The select few who reads 'the Hindu' seems to be the secular, educated and belongs to niche class of Indians.

Same article appeared in TOI, times of India, read it and then read the comments, almost all of the comments were full of hatred, puerile, using abusive language for Pakistan...senile and full of vitriol.

Who belongs to the class or caste who reads this TOI newspaper online edition. And this is a rule and not an exception whenever some news is reported about Pakistan(they will make sure that the news is a negative one).

Do you know BCCI had not signed contract with PCB? PCB arguments were in ICC that since Indian government had ordered BCCI to not play cricket with PCB, still they played international multilateral games like world cup or championship trophy but they didn't played bilateral matches. So they must pay. I am wondering what logic is that? India is part of UN and other multilateral groups, and Pakistan is also there in few of them. So as per Pakistan logic if India took part in UN or other such organizations meeting, it should have done bilateral meetings also with Pakistan, otherwise Pakistan will claim penalty. How will a person or country fight over something which doesn't have a ground logic?

There is no contract. There is only an MOU. Political issues in the country caused affected the bilateral match. Hence India decided not to go further with the MOU. May be when things settle down, there will be a match.

The PCB can't get anything from BCCI on an MOU violation.

Internet is free, you can comment anything you want without any immediate consequence. This mudslinging is on both side. So, there is no point in complaining about it.

The article may present the idea that BCCI owe PCB money, which may have made some angry as they think it's utter BS.

India's insistence on isolating Pakistan in sports warfare is only getting costlier.

Pakistans response to Indian insistence is only getting cheaper. They want money for what? Bloody hell we don't wanna play with you people it's our choice you can't force.

First of all, what are you smoking? The UN is completely different from a sports organisation, its a ridiculous comparison to make.

Secondly, an MoU was signed that 6 games would be played, BCCI violated that MoU claiming it didnt have permission from its government, and yet continued to play other games against Pakistan. I dont know the content of this MoU, but if it contains all the elements to be legally considered a contract, then violating it is a serious offence.

If you sign a legal agreement, then you are bound to honour that agreement. Laws and their enforcement aren't based on emotional feelings genius.

Its within the law to ask for compensation if business got affected. It's sports even Israelis and Palestinians play each other.

A childish attitude towards arts sports and academics only hampers the 3rd world countries growth.

Exactly it is a MOU not a contract , India is not liable to give any monetary compensation.

India makes around $600 million or more and $70 million is nothing. Our stand is a principled one , no cricket with pakistan until it brings mumbai attackers to justice.

It is getting costlier for pakistan as they dont have enuf money for the PCB budget. In fact it was only due to revenue sharing by ICC that pakistan cricket still survives. If not pakistan cricket will be doing bollywood type shows in dubai to earn money.

stop acting in a childish manner and go to courts.

Is this because of what happened in Champions trophy final?

BCCI should pay PCB voluntarily otherwise PCB will lose another case at international level

India should do Pakistan's moral boosting time to time just like losing last ICC T20 finals

Otherwise also Pakistani Foreign reserves are hitting rock bottom therefore shouldn't one be helping ones neighbour ? :pakistan:

Talk about competitive spirit... Woooo

If you weren't so naive about it.

I could say let's settle it in some sports.

The world don't even remember what were those. Nobody cares for a brownie on brownie thing.

just like pcb your posts are gibberish and make no sense, hence I said go to the courts instead of wasting every ones time. All this competitive crap comes from a country which was plotting occupation of kargil when peace talks were underway.
