LAHORE: After failing to receive a reply from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally decided to close the chapter of India series.

The Board has however decided to announce its decision regarding giving up on the series on Monday.

PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan had sent an email to the BCCI on Thursday asking them to decide on the series in the next 48 hours, failing which they would decide against playing India.

“Yes, we haven’t received a reply from the BCCI till Saturday evening, therefore, we are closing this chapter now. We will, however, make an announcement in this regard by Monday,” Shaharyar told Dawn.

“We made every possible effort to play India and even changed the venue from the UAE to Sri Lanka on BCCI’s request but our efforts went in vain. We signed an MoU with the BCCI last year and were sincere in playing cricket with them,” he added.

“Our failure to materialise the series disappointed millions of cricket fans all over the world especially in India and Pakistan.”

He said the PCB would raise the issue both at the ICC and bilateral level to convey its sentiments that failure to play a series was not good for the game.

Shaharyar said the PCB had given maximum time to the BCCI for taking a decision and for that they kept extending the deadlines.

He added that the PCB should not be held responsible for cancellation of the series and said the Board could not make arrangements for the series on a short notice.

The BCCI had given its consent for the series but the Indian government has not given them go-ahead so far on political grounds despite Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj’s recent visit to Pakistan when she was accorded warm welcome.

We cannot blame this guy because it was home series and PCB had RESPONSIBILITY OF managing everything in short period of time so he was desperate to know the Indian stance but these baniya still maintaining confuse stance and no clear response from Indian government and now time ran out

No doubt , it was Pakistan turn to make money. But, if other end is refusing and insulting..........what when it matter of national pride, then why daily mental agony . Let's see if Pakistan go for T20. Pakistan shouldn't go for T20. If PCB don't make money then why India. Because Pak-India match is biggest crowd puller and TV ads sponsorship in India.

they did not refused..still pending and that was the reason of frustration and conflicting news.. i was not talking about making money but making arrangement for the series in sri lanka on urgent notice .. PCB was asking for clear yes or no from Indian side because if yes then making arrangement and if no then taking any legal action but none of this happened.. I think tactic of indina government is to just wait and give response when there is no use of it..i meam if they say yes in after few daysthen series cannot be arrange but legal action cannot be taken because they approve it

I think PCB should sue BCCI for this. It was wrong on the part of BCCI to enter into an agreement with PCB without taking the GoI into confidence. Hell they didnt even inform anyone.
Its only moral BCCI pays up. And since its not tax payers money, BCCI can pay.

Thankfully, now it means that our understanding with big 3 system is no longer valid.

India was denied land route while sushma swaraj made a trip to pakistan, after that i dont see any reason why india will let pakistan benefit even in cricket.

They cant sue BCCI as per the ICC rules. The MOU was subject to govt permission.
PCB can boycott T-20 world cup.

No. BCCI tried to sue WICB and they backed off only after WICB promised 2 tours to India.
Nowhere it was conveyed to PCB it was subject to GoI permission. They signed the agreement in a hurry without informing anyone.

That's an ICC tournament, nothing to do with the BCCI. Pissing off the ICC is hardly wise considering that PCB is surviving on ICC distributed revenues from the world cup.

Nope. No chance. This isn't a BCCI decision, it has not been given permission from GoI. The BCCI chaps are not fools, they put in a clause saying that they cannot be held liable if GoI refuses permission.

What understanding is that??

Nowhere it was conveyed to PCB it was subject to GoI permission. They signed the agreement in a hurry without informing anyone.

There are enough videos of the PCB guys admitting to that clause, check Najam Sethi's videos.

Dont compare apple with orange!

Do you understand the meaning of MOU??
The final approval of tour had never been given to Pakistan. In the final approval, BCCI was supposed to sign a formal approval document which required govt permission
WICB had left the ongoing tour which is violation. They had signed some document before the tour began.

I thought I knew the facts. I am mistaken. Then fine. :)
