Pay me to fight my war: The News Editorial

You are missing the timing and point completely. Suicide attacks started only after when drones started flying over heads. Suicide attacks are knee jerk reaction by people suffering from drone syndrome and having buried loved ones under own roofs of their mud houses.

I am not quoting you to defend comments of another post you were referring to but picking what i thought was bluntly generalized.

Please recall the attacks on former Pakistan President Pervez Musharaff, long before the word Drone became a house hold name.

Wow...cheesy title.... but I agree....Pakistan has to be sure if its Pakistans war or not...there can not be two openions...one for external consumption and one for internal consumption.....and thats what Pakistan is busy doing....dishing out varied statements to draw benefit from the polatorm they are on.

I agree but don't you think India is supposed to do it and Pakistan is supposed to think about India factor every time and prepare. This what you guys were doing, furthermore your all weather friend china was doing hard work for you who is astonishingly quite this time.
No fuss...

NO FUSS!!!
yeah no fuss, Patterson just hinted a bit that there will be talks but Indians have done a great job in exaggerating things & then drawing Krishna into a official statement about the 'proliferation' :agree:
no doubt Indians are having sleepless nights
as for China i don't think they need to say anything, why would they?

However i have posted this before that its not difficult to get nuclear deal from US if Pakistan has a proposal and has done its homework. Furthermore Nuclear deal with USA will bring more balance and checks to so called untamed Pakistani nuclear aspirations period.
too early to say anything, the way case of AQ Khan is propping means there is something fishy going on in this area BUT i think Americans will get us through NSG so that we can strike a deal with France or China, Indians are already super duper pissed at americans
Just wait & see
but i say again Indians are jumping too much

I have nothing against your post but American tag has its own charm. Don't you think?

@blue: the conflicting statements constantly come from Pakistan side because the war in Afghanistan and Pakistan still remains unpopular in Pakistan....and majority of Pakistanis are of the opinion that the entire trouble came to Pakistan because of Americas invasion in Afghanistan...which may be true ...because majority of refuges living in Pakistan are Afghans fro the war effected area.....so to sell the Idea of war to general public.... Pakistani politicians and leaders ..have ot Make it look like there war...so these kind of statements like" Its Pakistan's war...and its a conspiracy to break Pakistan..." are made....

But when money is to be made from this war machine....the same leaders go on world stage and claim that they are fighting a war that belong ts to America alone so they should Pay Pakistan for it.......

Sorry my point is suicide attacks are due to lack of foreseeability to prepare before WOT and sever flaws in your internal security. Suicide attacker do not carry international conspiracy to benefits strategic goals. Suicide attack is a projection of desperation, inability to convey the missionary's message and hatred. India never has had such desperation and helplessness to punish Pakistan.

Thats what this war has become for Pakistan. a money making machine at the cost of lives of innocent civilians.... I mean look at the kind of funds expected from america....50 billion usd....almost half of Pakistans gdp...may be its just a way to get some new wepons to be used against India...

For all your fancy colored nonsense, what ever the situation in Afghanistan prevailed, before the US invasion of Afghanistan, suicide attacks were unheard of in Pakistan. Pakistan's economy was growing at an healthy 8% and due to this WOT, we suffered a loss of $35 Billion, besides despite paying heavily in both limb and life, we remain resolute to see this to the end at home and abroad, and we didn't tuck our tail between our legs and made a run when some of our workers were killed in Afghanistan. As they say, grit comes with grain so save your crap for an other day.

BBC News - Indians nervous after Kabul attacks

Some of the language you used was definitely unnecessary. You could have made your point without reference to India.

As I mentioned elsewhere, the manner in which Indians and Pakistanis engage and the language they use (avoiding inflammatory words and phrases) can have a huge impact on the quality of discourse on this forum.

I already see some of the Indians moving in that direction, to tone down the rhetoric while retaining the substance, and I think Pakistanis should do the same. It makes reading posts far more interesting for everyone and the forum a better place.

I don't think Pakistan is asking for $35 billion (the figure mentioned by the US ambassador and the FM), but pointing out the costs it has born in this war to counter the claims in the West about 'tens of billions in aid to Pakistan' and to also support its case for greater market access and US investments in projects the GoP has shortlisted (like the dams), along with making its case for being reimbursed legitimate costs under the CSF program (on which the US and Pakistan, and other nations, have an agreement).

One should keep in mind that the US has already approved $1.5 billion in annual civilian aid for Pakistan, and most of these projects being mentioned by the GoP will be financed (if the US agrees) out of that fund.

Alternatively, as Asim pointed out, perhaps independent auditors should be called in to estimate money owed Pakistan annually for the transit rights and logistical support Pakistan provides NATO.

The line between the war of americans and pakistans own war is very thin nowadays, what started of as americas war has been turned into pakistans war, because the menace had become an existantial threat to pakistan, the talibanis tried to act smart and tried to squeeze in a camal when you guys gave a needle space.

However, the parlimentary democracy of pakistan have not become mature enough to prioritise their requirments. If a military is taking decisions or is having more say, obviously they will think about security issues and would request a higher percentage of allocation budget for their operational requirments, and this is what it seems happening.

I think america should directly talk to the elected leaders rather than military. This will help to strengthen pakistani democracy and will lead to a better allocation of resources evenly across various areas. But ofcouse there should be able leaders in the parliment and the people should have trust in them..!!! Kayani too should help in bringing in such a system..!!!

Duly agreed sir, but it's ironic that every topic concerning India is adamantly termed by Indian members as BS, inflammatory or even Pakistan initiated propaganda, but all the negativity about Pakistan which without fail oozes from some Indian members should be taken as pennies from heaven. It's a sad situation.

Ambassador Husain Haqqani has been on record quoting the figure of $50 billion as the price Pakistan has paid in this war. That represents roughly 30 per cent of Pakistan's annual GDP.

What a joke:rofl::rofl::rofl:

$50BUSD is more then 10 years of Pakistan budget

It has been deliberately turned into Pakistan's war through Drone attacks and other covert CIA activities (and other agencies working under the US/NATO protection in Afghanistan) that instigated the formation of TTP.

Ideally your point is very good but lacks insight and important historical information that is necessary to evaluate the current scenario. however, Americans do not have a good track record in promoting democratic setups in Pakistan (i'd argue that in the Middle Eastern Muslim world at large).

The only democratic setup they support are those aligned with their interests at the expense of National interests through corrupt political elite.
